Kooks installed, got some issues...
I finished the header install, fired it up checked underneath for anything that looked funny, all looked good. short trip to auto parts store for a new dipstick bolt...cant find the damn thing... i have a CEL, also the stabiltrack issue, and for some reason, the oil temp gauge isnt working. i will check the plug wires, then i guess i will pull the plugs, i pulled them when i did the headers, they all looked fine when i put them back
![]() if the CEL is still on, well i am going to get tuned anyway. I will say it sounds a lot better...

Could you have damaged the temp sensor? They are really delicate.
Congrats on your headers!

You are on the right track. Not sure about the oil temp sensor. Congrats on the LTs. You will love them even more after your tune!

Other than that and the plugs, nothing else was unplugged or removed when I put headers in. I cant imagine what else would cause problems. Make sure the plug wire is "clicking" once when you put it on the plug itself, and clicking twice on each coil. You may not have them down all the way. Get a code reader and see what code is being thrown |

I did actually chip the ceramic sensor working the spark plug, but the sensor clicked right in so I figured it was okay, well I will try all that stuff and see. I guess I can go to Autodummies and they can scan for CEL codes right? I know they can do it on older cars not sure about our camaros.

They can check it, all cars are pretty much OBD2.

Also check the plugs are in the right order or that you didn't break a wire unplugging it, sometimes they snap in line

Good news on some fronts
Well I checked the plug wires to make sure they were tight, they appeared to be okay, fired it up, no luck. found my timing lite, checked all wires to make sure all were firing, they all were. while scratching my head not wanting to pull the plugs, I looked down and saw that I had not reconnnected the IAT(?) sensor that is connected to the CAI tube(i was going to check the number but it got too dark). reconnected it. then i disconnected and reconnected the temp sensor on the front of the drivers side head (also i noticed when doing that it controls the elec fan). started it up all works but i still have a CEL. I will have to get that tuned out.
Question: with the CEL on does the engine fall back to limp home mode? thanks guys for the help!

The sensor on the left front cylinder head is the coolant temp sensor.
The oil temp sensor is in the oil pan. |

CEL light went off??
lo and behold, the CEL light went off, what does this mean? I am still going to get it tuned...Griffin Racecraft, (st. louis area, working on my Transam) recommended Chad Barton who is close to where I live, so I will give him a call

The CEL coming on is not predictable after a header install. Some get it right away, some later and rarely; never. Sensor variability, coated vs not, re-installing the rear sensors vs not, etc. all affect this. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to figure that out; especially cause you are getting a tune. The only thing, at this time, that will keep it off with headers is Kooks green cats. Very expensive though.
