20,000 mile maintenance?
My car just hit 21,000 miles, and after completing an oil/filter change yesterday with Mobil 1 and a Wix filter, and draining my RX Catch can, I also cleaned my Vararam filter element, let dry overnight and re-oiled. My RX breather cap had a small amount of oil on it, so I soaked it in a cup of simplegreen/water mix for a couple hours, rinsed, and let dry overnight. The pollen is finally gone here in Central Arkansas, so I also covered the CAI with a trash bag and rinsed down the engine bay with simple green concentrate in my gilmour foam gun (also cleaned the gun in the process

In cabin filter might be pretty nasty at this point (free to check and take a look)
Also would recommend a rear axle fluid change or inspection at least ours was very black with alot of metal on the magnets even at 700 miles

+1 on the rear differential fluid. The cost of a quart of gear oil and some friction modifier is minimal. You spend more money on a movie and popcorn + drink.

I actually have a similar question:
I'm still under warranty and just hit the 21,000 miles mark. Is there any big/small service that requires me to bring the car in at this point? (my CEL is always on cause of midpipes so I can't tell) |

You can go to Autozone or wherever (if you dont have a code scanner) and they can check if you have any other codes...

I've been needing to change the differential. I'm at 28k.

So, a great topic here with a very similar question: Just came from the dealership with my 2014 RS and it's first 21,000 and the guy tried to take $700 from me with 4 routine maintenance procedures.
Reading the comments here I've got some ideas, but which one are they? (I have no clue). Can I do them myself or do they need professional care? What is a fair price to pay? Anything you can share will bring light! Thank you!! |

GM recommended maintenance schedule is in your owner's manual. Don't understand why it would cost $700 from what I see.
