Resonator delete

So just bought the Flowmaster Outlaw Axle back system and was wondering while i have it getting installed this weekend at the shop should i do a resonator delete? And what would i need extra to get that done or can the shop make me a pipe? Also mine is the L99..Is it even worth doing?

yes, it is a must in my opinion, Jegs and summit racing both sell one for $100 that work great, and it is a good idea to have them welded

Definitely worth doing. You can probably get a muffler shop to cut it out & replace it w/ straight pipe for fairly cheap.

I have an LS3 but I'm 90% sure that I've read that the stock resonator on the L99 helps with your AFM 4 cylinder mode sound quite a bit. You might want to think about disabling AFM as well with the resonator delete.

good idea with resonator delete , also if u gonna do straight pipe , all that job sure gonna be good if u plane to add headers and tune ur car .

if u want to keep ur waranty so , don't do it because u'll hear the AFM keck after delete the resonator

I haven't gone in for warranty work on anything like that yet, but it's still a gm part so I would say no. Something small like that is up o the dealership

I got the Corsa LS3 cat-back (no resonator) and the range device. I love it!

Not much, if at all...you'll hear more drone at highway speeds by simply removing them from a stock config.

Drone isn't taken care of with the resonators. That's a function of the factory J pipes.

Removing the resonator section is only beneficial for the weight savings and only on a L99. That section weighs in at around 15lbs. Ebay has a very nice 409SS X pipe that looks identical to the magnaflow True X pipe at half the price. You will have to weld in some extra pipe to make up for the length of the OEM resonator section.

The j pipes are inside of those giant tin can mufflers, so you don't need to worry ablout anything except repkacing those resonators with xpipe and removing AFM (if you wish to)

I have headers, SOLO axle back, HF cats, and I DO NOT recommend taking out the resonator.

The car would be way too loud if you did that, with headers.

If you never get headers, then go for it.

You will need a tune, or a range device or AFM is gonna be nasty. Definitely need an X pipe or H pipe, in the same spot as the factroy one

That's what they all say.

The first thing to go was my resonator and replaced with a X pipe. Added Dynomax VT axleback, then LT's. No issues with drone or raspiness. A lot depends on the mufflers you choose. Your friend will have to add piping to make up the difference in length between the old resonator section and new X pipe.

Can you link the X pipe you got? The factory resonator section is about 3 feet long. Heartthrob makes a resonator replacement piece for L99 that is a X pipe that spans the 3ft. Don't know of anyone else that's done that. Most universal X pipes are going to be around a foot long.
