Washing my neighbors car's tomorrow. Any tips?

Hey guys, just like the title says I am washing my neighbors jeep and his two door truck. I am doing out side only on both vehicles with a wax at the end. I have all of my microfibers raring and ready to go and all of my supplies and everything are ready. Any tips on how to really care for it, this is my first time washing and waxing somebody elses car. I wash and wax my camaro all the time. I am already using the two bucket method. I use brushes on the wheels then I use a cloth to clean the rest of the break dust. off of it, then I proceed to the car to do the rest. I then rinse off, dry, and then proceed to the windows. And by the way the water here seems to dry so fast. i will be doing this rather early tomorrow around dawn so I think the water spots will hopefully be minimal. Any tips? I am also charging him $45 bucks for both of the cars combined.

Way too low a price for a proper wash and wax of two vehicles but have fun with it. Don't do too good of a job or he will want repeat biz at that price, lol!. Also you really need to clay before you wax and that's making your price look even worse, I'm assuming these cars are going to be in relatively bad shape and will need clay badly.

Make sure you tell him in a kind manor that this was a first time intro price lol that is way to cheap for wash and wax. Depending the materials you use if course.
What stuff are you using ?

Meguairs, adams, black ice. And I will up the price a little bit. He is a really nice neighbor and he respects me and I am sure he will be fine with upping the price next time. I am sticking to my price for this wash.

Seriously too cheap. You'll have at least $15 in cleaning products.

I won't beat a dead horse, but just make sure you spin it well. As in, tell him since he's a good neighbor you gave him bogo or something on it to check your work. Or tell him to tell his friends, if he passes it on and brings in business the more the merrier, if you prefer.

Because they are bigger vehicles than the Camaro your going to need to set aside more time than you expect. Also, since you wash your Camaro all the time you can just do that on auto pilot. It's strange to do someone else's vehicle.

Good luck.

The amount of time and work I put into detailing my Camaro, I wouldn't turn the spicket on for $45~

I'm sorry but most people would rather pay 3 bucks for a car wash and wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

I can and you did an amazing job, turned a clunker to a beauty.

THis is the problem with charging too much, I say you keep your prices the same. If you charge too much at some point, its just too expensive for a car wash especially for cars not worth as much money anymore.

thats more then a wash, thats a detail. And he qouted for 2 vehicles. lesson learned on pricing but it may not have been a bad thing. Remind them it was kind of a promo deal and that you will charge more on others and you welcome them to spread your information for new customers, if you wanted.

Bingo ^ If someone doesn't want to pay 40-50 for a simple wash (up to an hour or so of work) Then let them. I understand how people can not care, but it's not worth taking a job like this because someone else who is willing to pay will come up.

$45/4 hours per car is less than minimum wage BEFORE you even buy supplies.

I've got some swampland in AZ you might be interested in.

I had the same thought... you have to respect your time/labor if you ever expect anyone else to. I don't touch a car for less than $55 an hour at 6 hours minimum.

Ummm last time I checked the people who mow my lawn. Get paid less than minimum wage and mow people's lawns all day.

Why use such expensive products to wash the car? Go to the dollar store and buy brushes towels shampoo automotive degreaser glass cleaner etc.....

No offense but everyone complains about companies outsourcing but americans want to charge 50 an hour for washing a car lol.

In order to detail you need to wash the car. And I'm not talking about paint correction. The op did not do paint correction.

ALso I could hire a guy on craiglsit to wash my interior and exterior every inch then put a coat of wax on it for

40 bucks lol

Bingo!

One of the main reasons why our family roofing business has been around for 68 years and 3 generations. Are we the cheapest? Certainly not. But like you guys over at Adams, we back up our work 100% unlike most of these hit & run companies. I could hire day laborers and not lift a finger all day and be the cheapest company going. Would I ever do that? Not in my lifetime.
