How would a V6 Camaro stand up against a Camry?

2010 Chevrolet Camaro (V6) 0-60 mph 6.0 Quarter mile 14.3

2012 Toyota Camry SE (V6) 0-60 mph 5.7 Quarter Mile 14.1

Why is the Camaro slower then the Camry?????!

:(

A 3300 lb 230ish whp more aggressively geared car vs a 250ish whp 3700-3800 lb car with gears much longer and heavier 20 inch wheels.

Lolol sad but that is about all it can hold over our heads. Hopefully that will push Ford and Chevy to put the next gen V6s or whatever the base model will be, safely and deep into the 13s.

Happens though, happened back in 02 with the 6MT Maximas. They are capable of a 14.0 bone stock and with bolt ons they pretty easily run mid to low 13s, meaning, for that year they destroyed the Zs. These will probably be the fastest Camrys ever made lol

GM provides increasing levels of performance. The facts are that many of the V6 family sedans are just as fast or faster than the V6 Camaro.

Just recently the new V6 Accord was tested running 13.9s in the 1/4 mile. So I wouldn't try racing a new V6 Accord with a V6 Camaro.

Pick your performance level.

This is nothing new, back when the 4th gen was out the V6 model would simply get nailed by many family sedans including those in the GM family such as the GTP Grand Prix, Regal GS, and the Bonneville SSEI, not to mention the Maxima and late 80s/early 90s SHO and the Dodge Spirit R/T.

Actually the Camaro has been tested by MT at 5.6 0 - 60 and 14.1 quarter mile as well, but that was the manual.

I'd take one on lol

Fact of the matter is, today's V6s are very powerful. But they are in much different and heavier chassis than they older cars 10 - 15 years ago. Put today's V6 in one of those cars weighing 3,200 lbs and you have yourself a V6 car that will do mid 13s or less bone stock. Add some bolt ons and it would probably make today's standard L99 SS look silly, as it would run with that or just be barely behind.

The Mustang V6 will already do 13s stock with the performance package, and with mods can do low 13s. There are even two owners with full bolts ons, wheels/tires that have dipped into the high 12s. Who would have ever thought an N/A V6 would get that 10 - 15 years ago?

The Camaro is just heavy, and the gearing doesn't help either. I love my V6, but I'd love it much more if it were a good 300 - 400 lbs lighter. Weight like that, it would be a mid 5 second 0 - 60 machine, and a mid to high 13 second 1/4 mile car stock and would likely be more fun to drive. I don't need any more performance than that.

Those cars were all supercharged, so that is not a fair comparison.

It IS fair in the context, it was just an example of family sedans that could beat the V6 F-bodies in the day.

Indeed. They were all factory supercharged, with factory warranties, and were all priced appropriately vs. their competiton.

Keep in mind though, a V6 with the RS package or 19 inch factory wheels will dust any of those sedans around a track. Also people who buy Camrys arent out to race them so youll never get challenged anyway.

I think Maxima would be close at the track and in a straight line though, random thought. The new Maxima's

Yep, plus they took easy to mods My GTP sedan ran 15.0 with 93k miles on horrible tires, 13.9@100 with some some exhaust work, CAI, 3.4 pulley, and PCM for less PCM. I bargain shopped so over a second off the 1/4 mile for around 400 bucks was pretty nice

My V6 Accord went 15.1 @ 93 mph stock(granted in summer heat 100+), 13.9 @ 102 mph by the time I was done with it. I bargain shopped as well and spent only about $500.

Eh

Straight line its dead even with the autos. My intake only manual dusted one reeeeal bad. Around a track no chance, CVT is terrible and the stock tires are terrible too. The new gen really disappointed me. Had they made an SE-R version with like a mild body kit, 6MT, special rims and lights, I think I would have bought that instead of my Camaro. Maxima fan for life! lol I miss mine
