Arrow First Post! Mods

Hey guys. Been on this forum for a couple of weeks and decided to sign up. Me and my wife both have camaro SS. We have an auto and a manual. They are both straight piped. Our next thing is the resonator delete on the L99.

My question is, if I get the resonator taken out on the automatic, will it make that much difference in sound? (I have the AFM disable thing). I am looking at just putting in straight pipes in place of resonator also and heard that sounds the best. Anyone running this because I read that it causes a noticeable decrease in performance?

Thanks.

And please don't suggest any type of exhaust set up or headers because the resonator delete is my next thing.

I got my mufflers removed on my 11 SS and it sounded mean but I wanted more. A lot of argument will come from this post whether or not you will lose horsepower but I am pretty sure you will by maybe a handful because of the lack of back pressure. Also, If you want your car to sound literally 5 times meaner then it is go with some nice lt headers and high flow cats. That makes everyone turn their head and I have had hundreds of compliments on it with it only being on for maybe 2 months now. GL

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

So will removing resonator on straight piped L99 make a big difference in how much louder it gets?

You need an X pipe or H pipe. Studies have shown that from the factory, the h pipe is in the optimal place so take that for what its worth. Definitely dont want to run without a crossover pipe.

Now I have LT headers, HF cats, STOCK resonator, SOLO axle back with J pipes (no muffler, basically straight piped).

And the car sounds great. I would never cut out my resonator, or the car would sound way too lound and be raspy.

My setup is loud outside the car, and quiet inside, cant even hear it under 2k rpm in the cabin.

If I were you, just leave the resonator, and wait for headers, then you get a performance boost, great sound, and no cabin noise.

Yes it will make a difference ( i would think a big one)

I cut my mufflers off and it barely sounded louder than stock. So I know the resonator has to play a big part in cutting down on the volume, and rasp.

Look at this list. Aftermarket V8 exhaust clips on youtube, all different configurations.

Ok thanks. I will put a magnaflow xpipe in place of resonator. Now for the LS3, since the resonator is a lot smaller will taking it out do much?

Your L99 will sound like crap if you don't tune it out.

And disregard the post about back pressure. Gains are minimal by deleting it but sound will be louder.

I have the thing you plug into the port that disables AFM. But I saw a few people say there was noticeable loss in torque when they put straight pipes instead of x.
