I got a call into GM because I feel that is a defect
And yes we know about the release valve but even that says not to keep using it
Besides trying to squeeze back there in suit and tie just to open the trunk every day

NOT.....

Hello Baltimorejohn1,

Sorry to learn about the bad news with your trunk. Have you had the opportunity to visit a dealer on this issue or was this quoted by a locksmith? Also, could you send me your VIN and current mileage? I will see what other information I may have available.

How many miles? and when was it purchased?

If you're close and you ask nicely, just plead the case of "look, i'm barely past by warranty. This isn't something that should happen this soon, is there anything you can do to help out of good faith?"

If that doesn't work, run it up the ladder and call GM support. Just be friendly (at least the beginning).

I had warranty work done on my Corvette that was over a year past warranty. They did it because the car was still low mileage and GM is going to pay them back anyways.

If the wires went bad, it's best to spend the $300 to get it fixed than for it to possibly cause more problems for your car down the road.

Yeah that's a tough one to try and suck up. You need access that's no doubt. $300 is pretty steep so hopefully GM does you right or at least offers to split the cost either on the parts or labor if it's just out of warranty.

Stay positive!

Wires don't just go bad. Unless you had/have an issue with rodents or cockroaches eating the wires, it would probably be the trunk relay in the fuse box (pull and replace like a fuse) or maybe even the solenoid in the trunk. Trunk relay shouldn't be more than about $50. $300 seems ridiculously high to fix this issue.

No, it isn't. But that's okay. I can see you don't take the written word literally, and that's okay. Most people don't these days. It's why there is such a serious lack of meaningful communication in the world.

Carry on.

see if the dealer can do a 'customer satisfaction' warranty claim.it's up to the individual dealers if they want to do it or not.if yours doesn't i'd go look for one that would and continue going to the one that helps you.

That is where we are the dealer won't budge but GM is sending me a coupon $100 or so......
And yes the dealer is saying no.....

So it's safe to say my Stingray won't come from there.....
