GM had the 10'' and 11'' 10 spoke rims already from the ZL1. They also already had the 285 and 305 tires from the ZL1.

They simply found the best performing, yet cost effective way of making the 1LE handle to its maximum potential. This happened to be putting the 285 tire on the 11'' 10 spoke rim for the rear setup.

I'm sure there were other ways to do it, but they didn't want to stock different sized tires or engineer different sized rims just for the 1LE.

I'm in no way complaining, I wouldn't change a thing on my car and am very thankful for the ZL1 or most of the 1LE wouldn't be here.

I agree. We discussed this sometime ago in the Z/28 threads and that was our conclusion. Off the shelf at its best.

Don't waste your time with facts, education, and experience,

What does google say about all this? Then we're talking Cody's level.

Sorry for the huge pics. They are what I had on my phone.

Purchased my tires from a local tire shop for $430 each. These Goodyear's are not only directional, but they are right and left side. Make sure your tire dealer is aware. (mine was not...)

Next time show them the TireRack price and see if they can cut you a better deal. I assume that is mounted and balanced but it seems a little steep.

How's the car feel with the set up though?

Probably not, I would like to, but my Camaro is in the Midwest still.

I have been competing in Pro Touring events in the Midwest since early May. I am going back to run Optima Face Off at Road America in late June, then an event in Nashville July 4th weekend, and my Camaro will likely stay in Nashville area until Labor Day when LS Fest takes place, which is another Optima Qualifier event.

Eventually, will get to run with you, Doc and Blake at Fontana...but probably won't be till Late September or October for me to have my Camaro here.

Ouch, crashing is never fun...I'm watching as much video of people running Road America as I can to try and get familiar.

Depending on whether I get an invite to Optima before the Silver State, I may sign up for that one too in September, it is right after the LS Fest. Mike from Haddad Motorsports is also talking about running in the Silver State also, so you might have company at that one.

That would be pretty cool. This race isn't the intensity of road racing on a track, but there is just something about having the middle of nowhere all to yourself.I mean 90 miles with no one in your way,and the whole road is yours, with my speed limit of 140,it just rocks.Good luck on the Optima thing. If you are actually going to be able to make this race, make sure you PM me and i will give you the info you need.

Question: What do you all think of the same tire fit on aftermarket "heavier" wheels of the same size/dimensions? Do you think it will throw off the handling not being on forged wheels?
