2013 Michigan F-Body Meet N Greet

Not detailing related really, but you guys are the only ones I care to share anything with so I'm posting it here.

Well, today I participated in my first ever car show at the Michigan F-Body Meet N Greet. It was an absolute blast. There were some amazing Camaros, Trans Ams and Firebirds all the way back to 1st Gens. So cool to see all the ZL1s in person, saw 2014 ZL1s, 2014 1LE, and even a Z/28 mule. Got to meet Al Oppenheiser and John Fitzpatrick, both of whom were nice enough to sign my car. Dylan- you need to send Al some towels. He was using Adam's WW but some godawful Walmart style microfiber to clean off his ZL1.

I couldn't believe some of the stuff people were rubbing on their paint on these gorgeous cars. I thought I'd see more care in a crowd of serious car people.

Anyway, what really took me by surprise was this:

Yours truly somehow took 1st Place for Best 5th Gen! I couldn't believe it, a lowly RS taking out the big V8 boys. There were some gorgeous cars there, and I'm not sure I agree with the judging, but I'm certainly not going to complain! I never dreamed of getting an award, I just went to check out the nice cars and hang out with some friends, Tim (skuttduck), his parents, Erick (efpardo), and Amy.

Here's a pic of John signing my car

Anyway, I've decided I'm never going to another show to preserve my 1.000 record

It was fun there Matt. By the way it is John Fitzpatrick.

We can use my camera if you want some more pictures. The cell phone you have is alright but not quite adjustable like mine or Erick's.

I took the photo of John with his car.

I just missed Al signing but got a picture of them both chatting with my dad about his days at GM, and my dad giving them the story about the 45th anniversary camaro.

Whoops Tim, nice catch. I knew it was Fitz something.

Thinking I'm going to ask for a DSLR for my birthday. Looking at the Rebel T3, its the cheapest and gets good reviews.

I bought my daughter a used Nikon D600. Last year for Christmas. 300 but they are much cheaper now. If you want an amazing camera, and on a budget. Get a used older DSLR that is about 2 years old. This camera does not shoot video so the original owner sold it to upgrade.
It's only 10MP but the picture it takes are amazing.

Don't get too hung up on bells and whistles if you are looking at photography.

You can get an amazing used DSLR camera for like 200 easy. eBay, Craig's list, Kijii they usually have kits. Lenses are where the big $$$ come in.

I'm looking for something with video capability as well. For $600 this seems to be the best of both worlds at a "reasonable" price. I went to Best Buy today and they had a guy my age that knew everything there was to know about cameras. He didn't try to push any product but this seemed like the best fit for me. I'm looking for a used one, got a line on one for $400.
