shifter ?

what shifter is in the zl1? is it worth upgrading?

its gm's idea of a short throw shifter compared to the SS shifter. It is a lot tighter than the SS shifter, I had a barton short throw on my SS and loved it over the stock unit. have yet to even mess around with the ZL1 shifter, its good enough for me so far.

Almost no difference

There is almost no difference between them, here is a great write up on them.

I went with the Hurst shifter, was a pain to put in. Not much room even after lowering the transmission as suggested, but got it done.

Note: The ZL1 shifter knob does not pry off, turn the ring to lower the boot cover and remove the mount screw.

I had the optional Hurst short-throw GM shifter in my 2011. The one in the ZL1 is just as good if not better. Very nice shifter, I see no need to change it at all.
