Need help on deciding between ls3 conversion with mild cam or F1-R procharger. .

What kind of mpg with ls3 conversion and mild cam? I know the f1-R is pretty powerful for a stock L99 but I can get it for about 6k and the cam and conversion for $3500

L99, kooks 1 7/8 lt headers, magna flow exhaust, aem cold air intake, dyno tuned.

Tuner shop said they can pulley down the procharger to make it work for a stock engine.

you can pulley down a train engine blower to work on a stock engine. its still too much blower.

Yeah you could pulley it up for less than 10psi but the low RPM power is gonna suck. I would recommend a D1SC, ECS kit or a Whipple 2.9. All of those base kits are upgradable to push up to 800RWHP when and if you build the motor to handle it. They will also all drive nice in the meantime giving you plenty of power on only 8-9psi.

The only way to make a blower that size perform on a stockish motor is to pulley it to perform, and wastegate the actual pressure down, which is a tuning nightmare. It would be a dog pullied to make no power.

As has been said, you can make pretty much anything work on a stock engine but that doesn't mean it's going to work well. Blowers work best in a specific rpm range. Not the rpm of the car but the rpm of the blower. To get a F1R to work on a stock engine, you'll be WAY BELOW the efficiency range of that blower. If you can get that setup, i'm sure one of the PC or Vortech guys would LOVE to swap head units with you. There are much better blowers that will work with a stock engine and be well within their efficiency range.

Never understood looking to get more power and gas mileage at the same time.... You have a 376 cubic inch fun factory stuffed into the front of your car. If your really worried about mileage why would you want to do the ls3 conversion? Of course, the extra 3kish of a blower over an LS3 conversion would buy a lot of gas.....Sorry man, but gotta pay to play!

A lot depends on how you drive. I can promise that once you get the extra power, you're going to be using it A LOT. Many guys have reported crappy MPG's from just adding headers. Of course they also say they are getting on it more to really hear them.

If your worried about MPG don't do the cam and converter. Mine was around 12city 22hwy I think. Didnt really pay that much attention because mpg was not a concern with this car. If your worried about mpg just get a blower because most of the time mpg is unaffected so long as your not into the boost.

F1R is a proven 7 second blower, and I think it's more appropriate for a car running a 4xx CID engine build.
