So... I guess we can't get on these cars to see if it's an affected shaft, because then we'll be "abusing our cars", meanwile GM won't tell us if our cars fall into the vin range affected.
Nope, there's nothing to miss.

I'd rather not buy a Camaro that cannot safely burn rubber and remain under warranty, if that indeed is the case.

Could you please post your vin range.

I'm hoping they've fixed this on later cars.

Everybody at GM should really understand that they are screwing over ENTHUSIASTS here for the most part by keeping a lid on this and denying warranty's for some of these with defective units. By now, a list of all the affected range of these "bad batch" of units should be out. This whole issue of "We aint fixing it till its broke", oh and "we may deny the claim because you abused the car" for a broken output shaft is also crap. I called up GM's customer service with my concerns and no call back as of yet with any response.

My VIN is in the 22517 range..Has anyone had this issue in this range?

GM should not be voiding these warranties. I mean they even tell you change the rear end fluid at 1500 miles if racing. Also long as you have not tuned the car, turbo or supercharge it you should still keep your drivetrain warranty.

This is supposed to be a muscle/sports car.

It would be good to know the earliest and the last VIN numbers affected so we can at the very least know if our car falls inbetween...

My car was built late in the week of the M6 "constraint"...vin #26xxx...as far as I've seen, there's been no later vin's with output shaft problems (at least I would hope, because at that point, they knew about the problem).

Yep mine (26642) was built in the week of the tranny output shaft issue as well but didn't get held up in QC as many of the ones built that week. I hope it holds up.

mine didn't get held up either (delivered 10 days after build) which leads me to believe the problem was sorted out (hopefully I'm not putting too much faith in GM).

I think mine just went bust. Will know more tomorrow I suppose. I'll post my vin once they confirm they're gonna fix it under warranty. Don't want them finding this and trying to void it or some shit even though it's 100% bone stock.

What's interesting is that it made a clanking sound when being pushed. Is that normal? Maybe it's not the output shaft?

That sucks dude. :(

Could be a cv joint. The output shafts and cv joints have been breaking.

Purple-ish fluid drained like a mofo. It was like my baby was bleeding to death lol. I looked underneath and it's like right in the middle of the car, about where the transmission output shaft would be.
