Did I mess up exhaust install?

I just installed a Cold Air Inductions CAI and a Borla S-type catback exhaust yesterday on my SS with M6. With the stock exhaust and CAI it sounded good, but once I put the Borla on it has terrible drone. Now I did my research before hand and knew there might be some drone, but this drone is unbearable. When I accelerate hard it sounds great, but between 1000 and 2500 RPM in any gear it's loud, and at its worst it's as loud as my pushmower but much more annoying. Do you all think maybe I did the install wrong somehow? I can't imagine it being this bad for others, my hearing is muffled for a few minutes after driving from the noise.

Well, there's really only one way to install a catback, so I doubt you messed it up. Sounds like the nature of the beast to me, unfortunately you may need to look into another system if that one is too loud for you. :(

Borla is known to have drone.

The Borla S-Type is known to have drone but I don't know what you could have done to make it worse. People have varying degrees of sensitivity to it, you may be one of those people that it just doesn't agree with at all.

You should try rolling around with the JBA 3". 5 hours of that leaves you pretty numb.

You sure it's drone and not vibrations of some kind? Many have issues with exhaust rattling against tunnel brace at certain rpms.

Typically, the tunnel brace hit is only when you accelerate or hit a bump. The exhaust resting on the brace shouldn't make any noise. Also that noise is a clunk and not a drone.

Nor with my Corsa set up. I too did some research first, my first search was for no drone exhaust systems..

I'll have to have someone else ride with me and see if they think it's bad. I have a sound level meter and the loudest the drone gets is 88 dB, which I think is pretty loud for cruising along without giving it hardly any gas. Well if I can't make it better maybe I'll try out the Stainless Works retro you suggested to me previously!

I'm pretty confident it's not rattling against the tunnel brace, I made sure there was plenty of clearance. Maybe it is rattling of some kind though because sometimes the drone is making my dash plastics rattle.

I have a vararam CIA and borela S type cat back. I have a little drone between 1800- 2200. But I don't think it is too bad.

Drone is definitely a real problem with this setup - and in the convertible it is worse than the coupe bc the trunk is open to the car (just a thin piece of canvas separates it. I basically cruise in 5th bc it is so bad I can think straight. I keep it though bc of how it sounds at start up and hard acceleration. I think the worse part is steady acceleration through first and second though (can't avoid it)

Ok glad to see I'm not the only one can barely stand it! I'm gonna keep it for a while and see if I can get used to it, it really does sound amazing when you push it! I'm thinking of getting this sound insulation and covering the underside of my trunk in it http://www.amazon.com/GTMAT-Automoti.../dp/B008L3ZRZQ

I bet it sounds awesome though!

I love the binary by the way.

The Borla on my C5 Vette had a ton of drone.

Yea give it some time as most exhaust change after putting a couple thousand miles on. So I'd say season the system first.
