What Cam

I just bought some headers and now im looking into buying a cam. My direction of course to get the best bang for my buck but I would like it to be loud and have that mean rumble. What cam package should I go with?

Not sure sound is the best method in choosing a cam. Most LS3 grinds will give you what you are looking for though with a heavy duration split and decent amount of overlap.

Sounds like you want a "Thumpr" cam....

If it helps, our '545' cam is our most popular with our 5th gen camaro customers. Not only does it have a fantastic sound, but it lays down 470-480 rwhp on a dyno jet with an intake/good exhaust, and starts picking up power even below 3,000rpm...it feels amazing on the street. With heads it ends up around 500rwhp, and it also works great with a blower should you add a TVS2300 or something like that down the road.

I run it in my personal car if that tells you anything! Here's a build blog featuring one installed in a customer's car - 545 Cam Install.

It's not about being that! We can't pick a cam for you that's IT, you might not like what I like, my cars are weekend cars and I can careless about some soft in the loafers MPG's or pollution or worry about catalytic converters. I don't want a boring ride so I careless about drivability. YOU MUST do YOUR reading and researching about what YOU want in a cam. It's not just pick a cam an GO. It's about supporting mods to take advantage of the cam. See what I mean?

really need to know how you drive what you drive on what you expect etcetcetc. sit down with a professional tuner and talk. custom grind cams are what i prefer but i have a very refined idea of what i want. there are some great off the shelf cam bein offered by lethal, texas speed, and pcm of nc.

with a new cam its more important to get a good tune then the actuall cam

Litle88 makes a great point. If you don't have the time to do the research on what setup works for you, you shouldn't be trying to get advice on a cam setup. Because that probably means you won't have the time to figure out how you destroyed your motor if something goes wrong due to wrong choice of parts/tuner/installer.

There are just so many to choose from. It's such a hot topic as well since most folks are hitting the point in their cars life where "the warranty is up and now I'm ready to mod" phase too.

With that being said, I don't think that there are many bad choices out there. We sell about 20 different choices but there are really only 2 or 3 that folks really consistently buy.

Our 235NA kit and LG G6X3 kits are really the only two Cam kits that we really pump out for the full bolt on guys.

We have a brand new 231 FI cam for FI guys of course, but I wouldn't recommend that one for ya.

Both of our NA Cam Kits will net you a solid 65 rwhp and I've seen gains of 72 and 75 with FAST and UD pulley'd cars. They are a killer kit for the price.

But, like most folks mentioned, there are literally a hundred choices.

If you have some detailed questions or need some advice, shoot me a pm or call and we'll be happy to discuss your needs and budget.
