ZL1 Shifter Swap?

I had a guy at the drag strip with an '07 Z06 tell me he put a MGW shifter on his car and he thought it would make a difference on a ZL1 too.

Anyone swap their shifter for that one or a different one. Any thoughts on why do this or why not do this.

Any specific brand suggestions would be great too.

I don't have any camaro MGW shifter experience but I have put one a Z06.

pro's
very precise shifter. think rifle bolt.

Con's
on the Z06's you can get a bit of shifter rattle at certain rpms.

the hurst is right In between the two imo. no where near as soild as the MGW but I did not notice much noise. Not sure if it is enough different than OEM to make me spend the money.

So depending on what you like you can go from there.

I think the stock shifter is really good for an OEM piece but the MGW is the way to go if you want short precise shifts.

O.E.M. shifter vs. mods.

I would have to I agree with Nuts on this one, I have even know some people to actually use an aftermarket shifter (and they put the O.E.M. back it ZL1).

Had the MGW in my 2SS. It was night and day compared to stock, in fact, it was my favorite mod because you feel so much more connected to the car. The ZL1 feels better then my stock 2SS, but nothing beats the MGW.

First mod I did was the MGW shifter, way better than stock. It is short and precise.

Had the factory Hurst on my 2012 SS. Swapped to MGW. Traded up to ZL1. Swapped to Hurst Billet Plus. Definitely my favorite over the MGW. GET THE UPGRADED BUSHINGS WITH THE HURST, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. THE BLACK HURST KNOB WITH THE HURST LOGO IS VERY COOL. REGARDS, PETER
