Door ding protection

I had a little mishap this weekend when a door was opened up into my fender. I had already purchased this door trim for my camaro but it wouldn't have helped me. But it can help in the future if I happen to open my door too much. It's door trim from this webpage:
http://www.brandsport.com/trimgard1.html

It's a inexpensive solution and not bad looking either.

To each his own. I'm not crazy about the looks of that on my car. I'm pretty dam sure I'm not gonna whack anyones car with my door anyways, my problem is with people banging my car with their door.

Some places sell the clear 3m type (like the clear bra) I'm sure if you get a clear bra they can do this for you as well, and you wont see it!

It wouldn't be a bad idea if it was color-matched.

I make it a point not to ever touch anything with my door.
If the door should accidently get away from a person, this isn't a bad idea.
I think clear door edge guards would look better than the black.

There is. A paranoid friend of mine had these padded strips about an inch wide and 24 inches long. They magnetically attached to the car door. You'd just put them on when you parked at the store or mall or where ever you'd need to be worried. They looked like hell, but you just take'm off and drive away.

I thought about getting them for my current 98 camaro. Fortunately I checked my door with a magnet before I went looking to buy...wah wah...composite door panel....

One problem with these is that they will not prevent all door dings. If a person in a full-size truck opens their door, the "hit point" is going to be different from that of a car.

True enough. I guess you could put one every 6 inches up the side of the car....

Good parking techniques. Best article i have ever read about parking your car read this. http://www.parkingbydesign.com/pbd_text.html . Might seem over the top at first but once you get the idea's down you will be glad you did.
