Conducting a scientific study to determine if you can shoot a troll out of the exhaust from a Camaro at speeds greater than 55mph?

Well it's definitely a digital audio field recorder (with a red wind muff), so I would say recording exhaust mod of some kind.

I'd say the red hair on the recorder is indicative of some sort of "Red-Headed Step-Child" mod or product....Must be a real monster of some kind...lol
