Talking Mid Atlantic C5Fest4 questions. Please share thoughts.

Initially we were set to go two routes, but the amount of people dropping out seemed to change the thought. We will head north together for those who will join in. I hope everyone joins up. If you are going to meet in Fredericksburg, there are hotels, or you can meet us in the morning.

We are going to stay off 70W until Columbus OH due to all the traffic. It is terrible this time of year and the maps are littered with construction east of Columbus. We can duck under and make better time. The route is attached. I will list the eating spots this weekend. If we eat in Athens, they have a parking garage on the block where we can safely park. I am looking at other spots as well. I will keep us safe.

So, who is going???

Lunch in Athens Oh at http://www.obettys.com/. Local eats. It can hold 20 to 30 people inside and more outside. I am in process of talking with owner to see if he can close it down for the group.

What's the plan / route for each group? Knowing what that is will help determine where folks want to eat. Think it's a little over 9 hours for those of us coming from MD. That makes for a long day in the driver's seat. Most people won't want to drive any longer. Think I saw in the other thread folks were jumping out of the caravan due to the "drive straight through" thing.

Also, how's the parking at that O'Betty's place? Looks like it's right off a street.

RDB LAN you bring up a good point. I will go ahead and post the routes. Give me till tomorrow. I already have routes organized. We can do overnight instead of driving all the way through. I just thought some would want to keep the caravan shorter. Get to rest and get group parking. Before everybody else gets their.

Whatever we plan to do is fine with me, I'm along for the ride. For those of us that are working and need to request time off work, we need to get something finalized sooner rather than later.

My .02. Depending on where you pick up 70w from might not be a bad idea. I drive it everyday as I live in hagerstown md, your 2 "alt routes, 40 and old 40" will be worse as its one single lane from Frederick thru Breezewood, where 70w turns into 68. While those (40/old 40) are fun roads it's still gets jammed a lot especially if there is an accident. Old 40 will only run you into hagerstown before it dies out so you are them only left with 70 and 40

If this is their original location on rte 2 outside Barboursville it's a real fun & interesting place, but there is only haphazard and precarious parking for maybe 10 cars. At least there was when I was there in '08. Not sure about their location in Huntington. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives did a segment on them a few years ago.
Good luck.

I'm good with meeting in Cincinnati, I live in OH so wherever you all decide to meet is fine by me. I guess we'll have more times and what not when the date gets closer.

And the time is getting closer. Any word on final plans? I'd really like to know about parking at the places listed for the food stop. From what I could see, it doesn't look like all of us will fit there easily.

I will not be able to make C5Fest this year.

I have reservations at Wyndham Indianapolis West from 31 July-3 Aug 13, let me know if anyone needs them. I will cancel the reservation on 17 Jul 13.

Leaving Wednesday like last year. Driving straight through. Going a slightly different route due to construction, but view should be nice. Having slight issues with pc. Route will be posted by Saturday at latest.

Tom, sorry to hear you won't make it. I was looking forward to running with you.

Sorry to hear that FireCracker. Maybe you can get off work and catch up with us as we pass your area.

If not, hopefully we will see you there.

The one in Athens says they have a parking garage. Hopefully it is good. If not, a different location then.

Sorry to hear Angella. I personally like the parking lot and activities involved. If you change your mind, come on out.

I predicted a small group. There are people going from the area, but some have chosen to drive on their own. The caravan out of the mid Atlantic started with 65 cars at the overlook last year. I am anticipating a much smaller group. Some that have posted were not on the list.

Some are not going because of location. And some just due to life. Even the c5fest event is almost half of what it was last year. Just not that big.
