Latest update:
I'll be doing some track runs, if it does not rain, on August 9. Matt's tuning has given me a great A/F and the car feels great. My G-tech Pro is saying .2 reduction in ET and 3 -4 mph in trap speed for 1/4 mile pass. This ALL MOTOR at this point. The temps will still not be ideal but if I'm getting those results in the heat just wait until fall comes.

what kind of AFR numbers are you getting both cruising and WOT?

etmx: Sounds great man !!!

IneedAZ: That's a secret LOL... I'll go over all those numbers when I see you in person. Cruising, the AFR will always bounce because that is part of the GM program (That we do not change the closed loop settings) so you can cruise between 14.4-16.2 but that should happen on purpose. WOT naturally aspirated we are looking for 12.7-13.0 on the DI motors you can be a bit leaner than your traditional OHV motors that need early transient fuel. I like to keep it high 12's, just a bit of a safety factor for not much gain by leaning out a couple of tenths.

<---- Matt said to me if I post my numbers.

Numbers what numbers, I don't see any numbers.

IneedAZ, You have the advantage to get it live from Matt. ( tuning and information )

IneedAZ,
We seem to have about the same mods, except you have more gear. Can't wait to see what numbers you pull on the dyno from Matt and see how we both run on the track. With the results I have so far from Matt, I really feel you will be glad you are doing another tune!!! Slight chance of rain this Friday, but if it holds off I'm doing some passes and we will see how it goes in the heat and humidity. Come on October!!!

It seems kind of tough to get ahold of Matt@FSP. Not to jack your thread, but I'm just hoping he sees this and shoots me a PM. Been trying to get ahold of him for a couple months now about tuning.

The really key to tuning is your use of a wideband.

If you don't use a wideband, your guesstimating. The MAF is used as an output frequency for fueling because its calculated in Hz not RPMs. If your not using a wideband connected to your computer scanner ( Not your dyno) you don't know where the tip in on Hz begins exactly on the MAF to adjust fueling and that can cause vehicles to go lean and detonate.

Your AFR is a moving target throughout your RPM band and slightly different for each gear because of mass airflow at different speeds and air intake systems.

I like my WOT on N/A cars to be in the mid 12's. That keeps motor rich and safe. The heavier the vehicle is (like a truck), I like it richer in the low 12s. Fuel also acts as a lubricate and a coolant inside the cylinder. You don't want to use fueling to drown knock retarding. What you want to do is get your fueling where you like it, then see how much main spark it will tolerate.

Very true Phil,
It can also be used a safety item if you keep it in view in case of a sudden fuel issue you can catch it quick and save an engine. I have seen all of the top remote tuners on here ask clients to make sure they have a good A/F meter installed. Look at the Cadillac Northstar if the engine gets hot it will kill certain firing cylinders and use the raw fuel to try and help cool the engine. Thanks for sharing some great insite of tuning. It's a lot more than just adding fuel and taking it away by injector timing.

Weather looks good for Friday night T&T session so far no rain for some updated tuning runs. About an hour ago had a guy come into the shop today and call me a liar saying he heard I was running 12s with my car. I told him yes on nitrous. He called me out for a heads up run Friday night. He has a 2012 V6 Mustang and said he is only running 13.3s on spray, he is lighter, has headers, bla bla bla. Said NO WAY with my car heavier and no headers than his. Sooooooo I told him be at the the track. if my motor runs are good and A/F looks good we can do a heads up run even tho I'm not tuned for the spray right now. I can watch my A/F and keep from going lean by letting off the button. So we might have some more information than just motor tuning feedback soon.

I don't know about trans type. Hope he is good on the tree because I cut consistent .025 - .030 lights. Probably just one of those types that runs their mouth not their car. When I'm done smoking his car, I'll smack him with my AARP card and call him a young wipper snapper..

I"ll have to try again another weekend, could not get the car to launch right keep getting a bog. The Mustang never showed up after all of his talking. I can say my MPH on the runs were up about 2.5 MPH in the 1/4 over before the tuning started. Track was super sticky because of Pro-Mods running and I didn't change my rear tire pressures because my tire pump broke. I'm leaning toward tire hooking toooo much and causing the bog. To be continued and I'm buying a new pump today!!!

I've had good luck with the "better" Harbor Freight air pumps, which I use when I go four wheeling (big tires; take 'em down to around 12 psi then when day is done, back to 35).

For what it's worth.

Well it sucks that I've missed this thread, but I think I'm jumping in just in time?! lol

So you said above that you can't give us any numbers....so do you mean you won't give us HP/TQ or AFR numbers?? Are you waiting until you feel you have the all motor tune nailed down or what?

Looking forward to hearing more about your passes at the 1/4 mile. Being up 2.5 mph sounds pretty dang good to me especially after bogging. Are you going to give us your times at the 1/4 track anytime soon? Don't tease us lol.

When I get it closer to being done I'll give some numbers. I have not been back on the dyno yet either.
