I say go for it, if you can afford it. Due to costs I pre-ordered a 2LT/RS with just about every option and while the car was great, I did miss the feel of a V8. About a 18 months after I got the car, my local dealer had a 2010 2SS/RS with just over 3,000 miles on it. I traded the V6 in and haven't looked backed.

The 2SS/RS was very similar in options, though I did lose the sunroof and went to an automatic. For me it was the right thing to trade in the V6.

I can't really comment on pain at the pump since I work from home and my 2SS/RS has just over 20,000 miles on it and I've owned it for over two years now.

Just do it, everyone who does trade up doesnt regret it. Its such a big jump, and youll love it.

Its so much more rewarding/fun to mod, to drive, to go to car shows with, etc.

IMO stick with the 2LS, you haven't even had it a year, unless you have that kind of money to blow on cars.

Eye of the beholder. No one but you knows if its worth it to you. You'll eat some, more than you are comfortable with, on your trade. You see plenty of people on here happy with the v6, then again several have traded with in months or a year of buying. For me personally, I would have been ok with an SS if that's what I could have afforded. But if I couldn't have gotten a v8 at least, I'd have waited until I had more money, but that's just me.

Depends where you are in life. Pay at least 50% off and then decide. To me the SS is for those that have > 10 years work exp and have gotten the basics (house down payment, college bills, engagement ring, etc) out of the way. The V-6 performs like a supercar compared to the '80s cars around when I was getting my first car.

^this. When I graduated college and finally got a full time job I was able to look for a new car. the car I was driving I have had since high school. I didn't want to spend that much $ on a SS so i have a LS and I love it! plus, with the money you're saving you can mod it up and make it your own

I waited 4 years to get my ss. I had the v6, made over payments to make what I owe really less. Dealer gave me a great deal on my 2010 ls and I picked up a 2011 1ss. So yeah the OP are right, you have to wait at least 36 months

I agree with a lot of what was said.

Consider this.

1) If you want a '67 camaro and keep the LS, find out how much they're going for. Test drive one. Those '67 camaros may look nice but dreams feel different once you drive them. Its also slower than your LS unless you mod it.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...0/viewall.html

2) Test drive the SS first!! You may be surprised it isn't as fun as you may think. If you trade it in, find out the payoff and KBB value. If you owe more, then you should probably just save it and put in higher payments per month. Else, sell it on your own and use the left-over for a downpayment on the SS. Take into account insurance and more for gas. And when you get the SS, its yours. Money comes and goes.

3) Mod the LS! If you're into keeping cars for a while, throw on a 7k S/C or Turbo. Not the best option but you'll be faster that a stock ss.

I have a 2LT, and was thinking about trading as well. But if you're like me, as soon as you get the SS, you're going to want the ZL1 lol

Proof that not many people actually read the threads.

OP already stated early on first page he wants to keep his current car.
