A on or off type system would have been better, I agree. The Corvette I drove a few months back had that controlled by a push button. I do not think it was factory, but it was either on or off.

Active mode exhaust is a feature. Neighbors love it and text me when I leave.

Doesn't this defeat the purpose of NPP?

Oh My, I love it.

2SS 1LE, black on black. NPP and love it, when I start it, when I downshift, when I accelerate and even when cruising or shutting it off.

Super cool.

Yes. But after hearing several aftermarket systems, I really like the NPP with always open valves and it sounds the best.

Does anybody have back-to-back dyno comparisons between NPP exhaust and a popular cat-back setup? Most quality cat-backs are $750-$1100 and the NPP is right in the mix at $895. How about a weight comparison?

I know that Flowmaster makes a cheaper cat-back but that will burn the paint off and rust over time.

Not really, it does add a bit of drone at highway speeds, but that is more than made up for the awesome sound everywhere else, and I'm used to it the highway speed drone don't really notice it anymore.

NPP is just as light as any of the aftermarkets.
this is not the old boat anchor that the old set was.

as for HP I believe that cat backs for the most part provide no power at all if any it would be marginal and I believe they are seeing about a 5hp difference if any between the old stock and the NPP. but it sounds so much better and once modded with a controller the most useful thing on the car.

Mine didn't come with a NPP system. Wish it had NPP, but the car was a last minute purchase on a whim, and despite my nature to research the hell out of things, I did absolutely no research on the car. I was just happy it was the V8, 6-speed, and looked damn cool. I'm a classic muscle car guy by nature, so this was a big step for me....

I do like however, that the car is kind of an oddball, in that it's pretty bare bones for the 1LE. Uh, sort of. Haha.

all hail NPP

Seriously though Chevrolet really nailed this catback!
unless your into badass sounding loud car that is the pretty much every after market catback wins over the npp. NPP definetley looks really good though

Disclaimer: my 1LE is not my daily driver and was purchased because i like to make cars loud, fast, and look cool as hell

Mine came without NPP, I didn't get to order what I wanted, had to really search for this one, but the question is can you add NPP to a NON-OEM NPP CAR?

Yes, but you have to add the mufflers and vacuum lines

You don't have to add the vacuum lines if you decide to run them open all the time, that is their default position without vacuum.

Thats true, but for it to work as intended, you need vacuum lines. If you just want it for sound, most any catback will do that.
