On a more related and serious note though, it could always be worse. The Ferrari 458's had way more of these incidents, and all right after they went on sale. Plus their price tags are quite a bit heftier than our cars'. I know that doesn't make it seem any better though. That's their car and yours is yours. I can only imagine how terrible it is to see one of the things you care about most burst into flames in front of your eyes.

Here is another one I just found, not sure if it's from natural causes, or faulty something or another or not, but appears to be?

That wasn't related to the engine compartment. The guy drove/crashed his camaro up onto a parking lot island-thingy and his exhaust caught the grass on fire - which then spread to his camaro.

Yea - it's kind of like watching your soul die. Seeing 3 years worth of love, sweat, and paycheck just burn to the ground in front of you.

Anybody have a clue where the fires are starting in the engine compartment. Looks like the white car may have started in the fuse box.

"According to the report, Jamie Taylor parked her ironically-painted 2012 Inferno Orange Camaro outside, turning off the ignition and going into her apartment. Three hours later she came outside to find fire engines and her Camaro quite literally an inferno."

I found this amusing lol

In the video the guy mentions his started by the positive battery terminal.

Really? I mean it was definitely puny, but amusing would be a stretch.

Video is of an early production 2010- which makes sense as they had the battery cable recall.

I have a 2010. According to the guy in that video that positive battery connection under the hood could have been the root cause. Should I wrap mine in electrical tape or something? I don't want mine catching on fire for nothing. I'm starting to get attached to this damn car :X

Found this. Only 1243 camaro's were affected by recall. Hate to see anyone's car destroyed. :(

Not really, it's a damn car. Ever imagine watching something that is a mode of transportation burn compared to watching your house burn with everything you ever had in it, including some of your pets, I don't have to imagine that, been there and done that. So if my car caught on fire it would suck, but I'd throw my arms up and move on.

I am sorry you had to go through that and sorry for your loss. But to some people their cars are worth more than there homes. If my apartment caught fire it would suck, but oh well. Now if I lost my car I would be more upset, because I have so much work put into it.

Now if I owned my house and had a family and pets it would be a different story. What I am trying to say I understand Stig's hurt.

Never heard of the battery cable thing on the 10's, but I believe some early '11s were built like the '10s (the strut tower for example)...Maybe the same battery cable problem made it into some of the early '11s...dunno...just a thought...
