Never heard of the battery cable thing on the 10's, but I believe some early '11s were built like the '10s (the strut tower for example)...Maybe the same battery cable problem made it into some of the early '11s...dunno...just a thought...

I love my car, I really do. I worked incredibly hard to get it, as did a lot of people on here, and I made sacrifices, but like you said, house with a family and and pets, or worse yet people inside(that's where we were fortunate, we were home asleep, but every human got out), it really is a different story. Like tornado and hurricane victims, everything is a loss, not just their car, and I've been there too. I live in ground zero for the 2011 Tuscaloosa tornado, although I moved about a half mile away from my old house after I deemed it unlivable after that storm. I'm not pandering for sympathy off of that one, I'll admit I was lucky in that storm, a lot luckier than other people.

GM is supposedly investigating it so I wonder is this occurring more than we know? Why would they choose this one vehicle out of the thousands sold to decide to investigate.

Found this. Only 1243 camaro's were affected by recall. Hate to see anyone's car destroyed. :(
My SS was one of these cars to go in for the recall a few months after I bought it.

side note: why is it that Jamie's camaro catches fire and it makes Chevy Hardcore AND launches an investigation. All I got was a new sig...

In the article it says she bought the car at the dealership just prior to bringing it home and parking it. So at least the first one in the post is not modified I would dare say.

SUMMARY:

I PURCHASED MY 2012 CAMARO IN AUGUST OF 2012. IT WAS BRAND NEW, 0 MILEAGE WHEN I BOUGHT IT. SINCE I HAVE HAD IT, THERE HAVE BEEN NO ISSUES...UNTIL TODAY. I WOKE UP TO DISCOVER THAT MY ENTIRE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES, ALSO SPREADING THE FIRE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE. BOTH VEHICLES ARE NOW TOTALED. I wouldn't trust the NTHSA complaints - anyone can file a complaint, for literally anything. Every complaint that gets filed is posted on their website. So I mean, while I do think this is an issue - take it with a grain of salt.

so all these fires are from the V6's?

Stig I am so sorry to hear about your car! I hope things turn around for you. Are you sure Jeremy, Richard or James didn't do something to your car to get back at you for something? lol sorry, but I really do hope things work out well for you.

Thank you much. I have no idea what happened - but on the plus side, I am being investigated by my insurance company. So that's fun.

You can check any complaints lodged with the NTSB.

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

on the left side of the page you can search by vehicle, make, model and year. This site will list all recalls and associated TSB's.

Hopefully this is a small problem and dosent effect too many cars. Until thats proven I would just park outside the garage for a while.....
