They put launch control on the car, I'm sure as hell gonna try it.

V8 Camaros are supposed to freakin MELT their rear tires daily.

This is a metallurgic failure. Not driver error. It would break with or without launch control.

V8 only. Breaking trannys and rear cv joints it seems...

The idea of NOT doing burnouts in a Camaro SS is stupid. GM has a problem.

GM putting a "launch control" in these cars was dumb IMO. I know it's there but dumping your clutch at 4,000 rpm's is just plain asking for trouble even without sticky tires.. You are going to get better acceleration slipping the clutch than straight dumping it until you get some serious hardware underneath it and a much better clutch. People are going to be frying clutches left and right. Are clutches warrantied items? Last time i checked they werent cause they are wear/tear items.....

honestly stop using that stupid crap. I GUARANTEE GM will not include the launch control for the 2011 camaro cause it's gonna cost them more money in the long run fixing broke cars....

They will break with or without launch control.

This is metallugy problem like the Toyota Tundra's V8 camshafts that broke at the beginning of production.

Awww Snap!!

Yeah, I'm going to go pick her up in about an hour. They just got done replacing the tranny. Service guy says that the output shaft wasn't properly hardened and the new one should be fine.. Hope so!

Good info. So the failing parts were not hardened properly.

Only good thing I can find here is it sounds like they've identified the cause, and should be able to permanently rectify the situation.

There should be a recall on all these tranny problems. Is there a way to alert GM of all these tranny probs, so they could start looking into it?

I know you'll be reluctant to test the launch control again. I also know you'll keep us informed on the status of tranny # deux....Thanks for sharing, sorry your living the nightmare. My car should be done the end of next week. I think when I decide to test the hardened condition of my tremec's tail shaft, it'll be next door to my dealer.

I hope it becomes a recall because i am getting supercharged. And if mine breaks i will be pissed because they would probably blame my supercharger causing it. My Vin is 5363, i havent seen anyone that low with problems, so i might be ok. (knock on wood)

Don't take this the wrong way orangeinfernoman. I think a good majority of us get a headache reading your posts. I say this knowing your likely French Canadian and English is your second language. (A guess)
I understand your frustration. Rightfully so. Two new cars two failures. You got the bad end of the stick. Kind of like that horse in your avatar.
You very well may be right on the area 51 forecast. Although the numbers of tremec's failing are rising here, it is still likely less then 1% produced that are breaking. So far.

If you are worried about this, then wait until your warranty is up before getting the supercharger..

Techco is doing the r/d for my car. Plus they are warranting the whole powertrain. just dont want it to break cause it would be down for a bit.

Cool man! I got mine back yesterday and it seems ok. I havn't tried launch control yet though. I did notice that it seems better going thru the gears. I think its more to do with linkage feeling better than the original one.

I've smoked my tires only once, and I'm afraid to do it again !!! Thanks for the info Louis If it's true that the percentage of failures is greater than 10%, there will probably be some type of recall ( I hope !! ) .... Now I think I need some tequila , and it's only 9:00 a.m.

Angry 2010 Camaro SS/2RS 6 Speed Inferno Orange

Just picked up my Camaro Friday and the output shaft broke last night. I was at a stop light, went to take off and the car would shift but wouldn't go anywhere. Car had to be towed to dealer; transmission fluid leaking everywhere.

Just left the dealer and they said the output shaft broke. Mechanic said there was a bulletin about this problem with the 2010 Camaro but doesn't know if it will be covered under warranty. WTF???

I am waiting on a call from the dealer to see if the car will be fixed under warranty and what they are going to do to correct the problem.

I've done a couple of burns now but in a different way. I'm too afraid to stomp on the gas and drop the clutch, so instead I am just quickly but smoothly release the clutch as I smoothly but quickly step on the gas. I tried this in a mall parking lot a few times until I got the hang of it and then tried it on the street. I've beat everyone I've used it on except once, and spun the tires just enough to make a really pleasing sound.
