See what the Porsche crowd thinks of the Z/28

Curiosity got the best of me, and I checked the Porsche forums to see if there was any discussion on the Z/28. To my surprise, I found a big, 20 page thread on it. I haven't finished reading through the thread, but it looks like a lot of them are pretty excited about this car as we are. Check the link:

LINK

Here are some quotes [all from different guys] I grabbed from the first few pages:

Quote:
The brakes look fantastic. Proof is in the pudding as to how they actually work on track with a very heavy car. IMO if they work as well as they look, and body roll is mimimized, this car is full of win.
Quote:
i like it, dunno if i have ever said that about a camaro before.
Quote:
I am interested in the Z28 and kudo's for Chevy for putting something like it out there.
Quote:
Hmm, maybe I should have kept my 1977 Z28... I never thought I would be interested in another Z28 but you have certainly got my interest up.
Quote:
500 HP, carbon brakes, track set up w/ ac delete option and radio, and finally decent seats....for 60kish?
hmm I would sell my GT3 for 1 in a second...
Quote:
I can't believe I find myself considering this car as well....hell has frozen over...
Quote:
Since the bailout, they have really stepped their game up. Really proud of our boys now. Not just on the sports car front, but all across the board. They are really as good as anything out there now. Hard to see myself buying imports again. American Muscle is back!!
Awesome to see that GM is doing a great job in grabbing the attention of others!

It is when an equivalent 997 GT3RS 4.0 will run you close to 200k

Yeah, I didn't see where they got the 60k number? I highly doubt it will be that low.

Someone made a comment about the z28 being built to compete with the boss 302...

...Told 'ya...lol...The Z/28 is in another "class" in more ways than one....clientel to price...Good for Chevy and GM...We'll all see the benefits to some degree in the future for all levels of Camaros...

The Z/28 isn't just gonna get interest from Chevy/Camaro owners or Corvette owners for that matter...It's "out there"....all good...

That car in your signature looks sick! Plus I wouldn't consider it a super car until they stup it up to a v10 even then, I consider a Bugatti a Super Car, it'd be awesome if Chevrolet could do that. BUT, that is my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm with Mike on this one. I'm speculating 75K MSRP and big markups.

If they can bring in the new Stingray with the Z51 and exhaust option for under $60k, and that includes full deluxe interior with a/c, sound system etc., then I'm expecting the Z/28 to be between $60-$65k MSRP. You can count on the "big markups" price gouging from stealerships though. Especially because of the new-to-Camaro customers coming down from $150k+ cars who'll have no problem paying $75k+ cause to them that's a "steal". That'll price out the regular Camaro customer base unfortunately but eventually the prices will come down to regular MSRP level. Especially when the 6th gen comes out and a dealer is caught with a 2014 Z/28 in his showroom he was trying to over-charge for.

I for one don't really care what the Porsche faithful say about the Z28. They don't define the brand or the model for me and are far from purists in my book. It's not a great car for a chevy and certainly not a great car as defined by the Porsche-inistas. The Z28 is a great car as long as it delivers as has already been boldly promised.
