Stainless Works Retro chambered Catback issues

Initially my car was great.. No rattles and it went on pretty easily.. Not as easy as my friends Corsa or JBA exhausts but the sound made it well worth the extra work..

Since adding headers I started to get a rattle very rarely and now with a Cam it rattles daily... I have checked every connection and clamp and hanger and it's all tight and secure.. anyone else having issues ??

It's rubbing/vibrating on the tunnel brace

Could be tunnel brace, broken cat or broken muffler...If it's not the tunnel brace, take it to a muffler shop and have them take a mallet to it.

+1, there are a number of after market tunnel braces that offer more clearance so it doesn't rattle. This is a very common issue with 3'' exhaust, but a relatively easy fix

This is often the cause of rattles with 3 inch exhaust systems. I would start there.

With the spacers I must have a few inches of clearance. Even without them It clears with lots of wiggle room

Try driving with the brace off and see if you still have the rattle.

Anyone remove all of their heat shielding under the car to stop rattling? On WOT mine gets a metal on metal rattle, I have tried moving the shields and bending the corners away from the body. Only change to exhaust is axle-back, but the rattle is more central. I have removed the shields from the Stock manifold already.

The HS shields are a bit of a pain once disdurbed and very flimsy. Took me some time to get them right again. There are there for a reason though and I would be very reluctant to remove them.

There are a lot of variables that could be rattling, Not just the exhaust. Not saying it is not the exhaust. If you could please take some pictures and send them to me i can make sure nothing looks really out of place to where it could be rattling. Also the rubber mallet is a good tool. Lightly tap each section and see if it rattles. Do this when it is cold and hot as the expanded metal may have moved to be touching something. If you have any questions feel free to contact me and i will be glad to help.

Quick question... Do you have a convertible?

Thanks, Chris

My 3" gets real close to the passenger side lower control arm and the diff. That is where all of my rattles have come from since I put the catback on. I eventually got everything tightened up in a way that made it happy.

I had to take my Tunnel brace out, even with the spacers it still rattled. I still get a rattle every now and then only when starting off in first, but i think its the Tip hitting the rear valence.

Still the best sounding exhaust ever tho!
