Lunati 21460701

I got this from Lunati


The cam I recommend is part number 21460701. This cam is on the single
bolt core and it is 217/228 at .050, .549/.566 on the lift, and it is cut
on a 112 LSA with a 108 intake centerline.


If any one has any experience with this grind cam. I am all ears. Thanks

You will get responces about it being a single bolt as compared to a 3 bolt. Not enough split on the duration and not enough lift. I feel it will make decent power and be easy on the valve train.

You can use the stock valve train which is a plus.

the overlap is -1.5°, so don't expect much of a choppy idle... Stock is -11°. Bigger choppy cams are > +10°.

... and opt for the 3 bolt design. I can post a link that will convince you if needed.

EDIT: It looks like -1.5° sounds pretty awesome judging from the next post. I didn't realize that it was the exact same cam.

This is that cam, posted this many times. Yes it chopes good, makes great power! Car traps 115-116 in 2000ft DA, once I get the little stuff worked out I would bet I see 120 traps in good weather. I mad about 450hp and 430tq at the wheels, peaks at 6400. And yes I use the single bolt cam, and full stock valav train with about 12k miles since the swap.

Not bad, but better things out there. In my opinion if I am going to take the time to install a cam, I don't want to compromise. Our '545' cam has been selling like crazy lately, and it usually makes 470-480 to the rear wheels on a dyno jet with bolt ons. It's insanely torquey and retains great driveability as well...and you can't beat the lope!

Does the 545 cam work with stock springs though. Believe that's what the op is after.

No pretty sure it don't! Yes there better cams out there, but they also cost a hell of allot more money to install. It's took a measly 6hrs from start to finish to install and have what I have. Spent less then 800$ between the cam and the tune and my car runs very strong. All depends on your budget and needs, I have beaten and ran neck and neck with the so called better cams, so I am happy.

Sounds awesome! And all on the stock valvetrain? Even better! Now that's something I can install myself.
How's the low end on it?

Thanks, this cam makes a very flat power band. There is no top end rush after a laggy low end feel, just a nice strong pull right off the bat. I really have no plans to swap to a larger cam until I do my 416/427... I am totally happy with it in my application, and positive it will put my car in the 11s. For a street toy that see some track use, it is a very Big Bang for the buck!

Sounds good to me....and being able to use the stock springs is a big plus to me. This might be something I will have to look at installing some day.

About how much is the cam? I'm also guessing you used the stock oil pump as well?

Yes I reused everything, I had 34k on my car when I swapped it. I now have 47k, I drive mine pretty much daily and I like the fact I don't have to worry about valve springs with the crazy high lift most of these cams run. The car sounds great, and I can walk a Bolton car like nothing, so even though it don't make big numbers it does perform. You can pick this cam up for under $400, reuse everything an get a tune... All done! It really is a great street car cam, this is the 4th cam I have used from lunati, they never disappoint. This cam was specificly made for the ls3, so that is what sold me on it. Also my avg trap speed picked up from 110 to 115 in some pretty high DA. My best Bolton traps were 112, and now 116s and I still haven't seen great air with the cam!

This is the kind of cam I'll be looking for when I'm ready. Part of what's been holding me off from a cam swap is dealing with all the springs and stuff. Also know that you're supposed to switch out springs every 25k or so has just turned me away.

Even though that cam isn't the most choppy one out there, you can definitely hear it and I'm sure it has a lot better street manners than those bigger lift cams.

If you have to run comp cams you have them cut a 218/228-.562/.571

Isnt 11deg a big split already? Some good cams out there only have 4deg of split and performs well..

Anyway this cam isnt big enough IMO. Better choice out there, unless you REALLY want to retain stock driveability at all cost and reduce valvetrain stress.

Most ls3 specific cams have 15* split. Just responces I've seen. I too feel once you get 10* or so split it should be good. I personally don't like cams below 10* split unless you have a set of ported cylinder heads.

Idk if you understand the point here, yes there are better and bigger cams! Regardless this is a great bang for the buck, and no it does not retain stock drivability at all. It is close but it will drive a little different, the lope at idle is more apparent in person and also rocks the car at a stoplight. I get complements all the time on the sound. Trust me you know your driving a cammed car!

That 3" exhaust should sound killer bud, keep me updated.

I also recomend setting the idle at 650-700. At first my tuner set it 750 but it was to racy, I ended up going back and had him turn it down.

Any one here have info on the "endurance" cam by jannetty? I've read its good for DD and easy on springs. Any ideas what specs it has or dynos?

Have one more question. I already have a tune from jannetty for the Cai, hf cats, & headers. Will I need another tune after the cam install ? Ted you out there?
