If this could happen it would need to be someone who bought theirs used, or some limited edition.

My son bought a used Explorer in 2001. It was totaled in 2005 and the insurance company for the person that hit him paid out $200 more than we paid for it in 2001.

Not going to happen. You'll need to buy it out right then have close to 5k in rebates then sell it back within weeks, months or do a private sell. Just my opinion.

I saw a local lady sell her first car for $15,000 in 1998. She said her dad bought it for her for $2,500 in 1973. It's a 1969 Camaro SS 350 a/t. All original and the paint was kinda faded, but original. Not sure on the miles. It was light blue with a black vinyl top and black interior.

Todays Camaro can get you more than you paid for it if you won it on The Price is Right or something like that.

I leased my 13 1LT back in April so when my lease expires in 39 months the buy price is less than 18k. Right now in my area a 10 with 50k miles is still going for 19-20k and with my driving habits it'll have less than 40k on it so in less than 3 years I'll have made more than I paid on it, if I decide to sell it.
