3.27 vs 3.73

Ok , CAI in , Borla Exhaust in - Now I have to convince the wife I need gears .

Have the stock 3.27 in , Looking to upgrade to 3.73 .... I'm pretty sure I will see an improvement at 1st , 2nd and 3rd , But dont believe I will see much difference pass thet - Anyone do the chage over yet ? Results ?

Also , I need a creative way to explain to the wife exactly why I need them . Any Suggestions ?

Gear changes will be felt in all gears at all RPM. Upgrade the factory 3.27s to 3.73s and you will realize an equivalent torque gain of approximately 15% EVERYWHERE. If you have a V6 that is like an extra 41 lb.-ft. of torque across the board. If you have an SS it is like an extra 62 lb.-ft. of torque.

One might want to put that in his signature or the "drives" section that shows up at the left every time you post.

OK, you are in the same boat as me. I have a V6 Auto. In order to go to 3.73 you will have to change out the rear from an SS as only 3.55 gears are made for the Auto. The Manual V6 uses the same rear as the SS already. I went ahead and made the swap as it gives you heavy duty axles and rear compared to the smaller V6 auto. Also you will gain a limited slip as the AutoV6 doesnt have one. I went with 3.73 in mine. Unfortunately i cannot say the difference in the 1/4mile as i didnt take it to the track prior. You will find it runs better when in sport mode, but in normal D mode i find 1st gear shift really quick.

You will need a tune to recalibrate the speedometer. I found mine to be off by ~10mph going to the 3.73. After the recalibration i am within 1mph. Close enough for me. I had my gears installed in Bradenton area. They supplied everything. They can do it while you wait, took about 4 hours. If interested pm me for their number.
