Installed Headers today

I just installed a set of Kooks 1-7/8 long tubes and hi-flow cats today. Now I was told I would need a tune, but I'm surprised how bad it runs by just changing the headers. It feels like I lost 50 hp. Can't wait till the SCT 3400 shows up and Jannetty's tune goes in it. I hope it runs like a raped ape .

I thought it would have been louder. I also have Flowmaster mufflers [American thunder] I may make a move to the outlaws. I will see how it sounds when it's running right.

The high flow cats is what's keeping it quieter. You should have gained a fair amount of HP though. Are you sure you got all the spark plug wires on tight? It's not hard to miss one.

I have headers installed without a tune and the car definitely feels a bit faster.

No matter what others say, that you don't lose bottom end power, it still feels like I did. Even after the tune. Never dyno'd before and after, so no proof. The rpm's do climb faster and pulls harder on top.

Wow. My car was night and day faster and stronger when I put my headers on. Now I did have to run my stock intake because the stock tune didn't jive with the it and the headers. Once I got it tuned with my intake it smooth it out though.

Interesting...right away I could tell I had more power after my LT's. Check to see if all the spark plugs are connected...also if you didn't remove the spark plugs they can crack easily.

Good luck...I'm sure it will work itself out

Definitely check your spark plugs and wires. Car felt much stronger after install, but about 150 200 miles later I had a misfire and the car was very sluggish and had little power. I just found that one of my wires wasn't even attached to the spark plug. Not sure if the installer forgot to reattach it or if they just didn't secure it all the way and it popped off. But yeah, check your plugs and wires because it will make a huge difference!

Wires and plugs look ok. The check engine light is flashing and it says something about the traction control. Also is saying close driver window and reopen. To much crap on these new cars. LOL!!! I will disconnect the battery and see if it goes away.

Huh, I never had the check engine light come on, but I did receive a service stability track for a few seconds before going away. I've got the window message before and I don't think it has anything to do with your current problems.

Not sure if it's a combo of all the mods I have done so far. It was running great the other night before the headers . So far I have a ADM cold air intake, SLP under drive pulley, headers, cats and the flowmasters.

Flashing check engine lights mean the engine is missing. Did you remove your spark plugs when you installed the headers? If not check to make sure you didn't crack the porcelain on any of them. Double check your wires again. Two clicks on the coils means they are on. One for the spark plugs. Every symptom you have is either a wire not fully connected or a bad spark plug.

I did remove the plugs when installing the headers. I did drop 1 plug about 4 times trying to get it in, dipstick was in the way some.

That one is bad then. Usually dropping a plug will break it. So you are running on a V7. Also you really do have to make sure double click on the plug wires. They will look like they are on all the but are not.

Flashing Check engine lite indicates Misfire, You need to pull all your plugs and wires and inspect them carefully.

Misfire would also explain your loss of power.

No doubt the car will be stronger even without a tune.

A tune can not fix a Misfire.

Hope this Helps, and Thank you for the Order.

Ted.

Fixed it!!! Just must have been a loose wire. Removed all wires and re-installed. Some of them just don't seem to snap on real good. But no CEL and the power is back. Thanks to all who helped.
