Help me decide on headers and catback!!

New to the Camaro scene. Looking to get Longtube headers and a full catback for my car. It's a 2010 Camaro 2SS with the GMFX

Header options:
1 7/8" or 2" How much is the difference?

There are so many different brands and I'm just trying to get the most HP out of them so any help is useful

Doug Thorley
JBA
Kooks
LG
Stainless Power
Stainless Works
TSP

Exhaust:

Magnaflow comp
Borla atak
Corsa sport
MBRP

Just so many options and I've never heard any! I want it loud and mean sounding so I'm thinking about doing off road midpipes but if high flows have no difference in sound I will do them. Just needing a little bit of input to decide!

And I plan on putting a cam in later in the future after a couple other mods.

Any other suggestions are fine. Videos and sound clips also help. Thanks

Budget? What are your future plans?

If it was my money TSP headers and find a take off NPP exhaust.

You tube has many many videos or idle and drive by and dyno clips.

If money is not an issue get the 1 7/8's or 2" it's all up to you. If money is important then get the TSP's cause they support this forum and also provide tech for us here.

LG and Stainless Works or Power are my favorite from the list. A Corsa exhaust will wrap it up.

Headers...Kooks is the best of all the brands you have listed and I'm sure SW is a close second. So if price doesn't matter to you and all the best quality does matter, then there you go. If price does matter, then TSP and SP are good choices. Their quality is great. Of the 2 tho, TSP makes 2" headers in a more affordable price. So if price is a consideration AND you want 2" then TSP is the way to go. If I were gonna buy headers again, I would go with TSP 2"!!

Of the exhausts, I personally wouldn't get any of those. Not because of any reason other than they're not my thing. Go on YouTube for sound clips. There are many different combos there. However the sound will be different in person and after the headers and/or exhaust has broken in.

We have a great deal going right now on KOOKS headers and can save you a bit on a few of the other brands as well.

As for going with/without cats. I recommend them as they flow very well and the HP difference is minimal. Also going catless tends to sound raspy in my opinion.

As for the exhaust, the Magnaflow Comp is one of my favorites, with the Stainless works Retro Chambered catback as a close second.

Please feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions or for a package deal.

Best regards,

Tyler

If I was in the market for headers and didnt already have a great set of Kooks on my car I would probably get the Pfadt ones. Looks like they might be giving the most gains and are giving a good deal on pre orders right now. As far as the cat back. That is totally subjective because all it is from one brand to the next is sound. There is no power difference there. You will need to listen to video clips or better yet to cars in person to figure out which one you like best.

I appreciate all the input everyone!! Either going with kooks 1 7/8" or TSP 2" leaning more towards the 2" TSP because they are cheaper.

Now just have to decide if I want to run high flows or catless

And then chose the catback I like. I want LOUD with a deep good tone

I just did ARH headers and Corsa LS3 catback and LOVE it. The only thing I would change (and am changing) is to a quad tip Corsa. ARH & Corsa are both high quality built systems.

Here is my car on the dyno this past weekend at FSP

I don't think these are 2" headers but 1 7/8" but I love this catback...

I have the same headers and hi-flow cats but with stock cat back. As soon as I blow out the stock mufflers I'll probably be going for this cat back.

I'd check out the Stainless Works retro and the Magnaflow 3" comp series. Both sound awesome with headers!
