first mod question

do you guys think a cam + tune would be a good first opening mod for an l99? i don't plan on modding the car much other than intake/exhaust/headers/cam/tune.

how would cam+tune work versus other mods in the same price range? would i have any problems with my car with just cam+tune? never modded a car before. thanks for the help guys

I think i would do the tune last. Reason being you can get the best tune to fit ur setup which you said u want cai , headers , exhaust. Do the tune once and get it done with than having to go back to the shop to do a retune because you added more stuff to ur car

yeah i was thinking cam and tune should go last too, after the exhaust/intake.. but i dont know if ill have the money for intake/exhaust/headers for a while so i was thinking a cam/tune would be the best bang for my buck atm..

You'll need supporting mods, do a search. You just don't add a cam and tune on an L99.

Will you be going Ls3 conversion or stay VVT? Either way heads must come off to remove the AFM lifters that suck.

First mod should be CAI and headers.

Get the tune with exhaust...If you go at the same place they will retune for a lower price later with a cam install. Ported TB/intake are cool mods too.

Good luck!

No, those would be much later. You need to start with the basics. Your engine is basically a big air pump. To make more power you want to increase the volume of air moving through it and how efficiently it is being done. That means induction and exhaust upgrades are where you want to start.

I would listen to Chase and litle88 they are both very knowledgable and have both helped me above and beyond

The way I've done my mods is catback exhaust, cold air intake, headers with a tune, now I'm gunna be getting a ported throttle body and possibly the vararam wedge, after all that them I'm gunna get a cam and refine my tune

I've been doing my research and there is plenty of info on this site and you're gunna need alot of things to support the cam it's not just a simple swap for us with the L99

And then you might wanna upgrade some of the suspension to keep all that power on the ground as well

I would just bite the bullet, and do CAI, LTs, cam, and tune all at once at a good shop for a package deal.... that is, if you don't want to do any of it yourself.

yes it will cost some $$... but you will eventually do all of those anyways, and probably spend a lot more in the long run.

Here are some from Janettey: http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/g...s.html?cat=276
