You're preaching to the choir on T-tops -- but not in the plan --

Reverse mohawk can't be done with sunroof -- thus, two different roof tools, but it was the right call.

.......by the way -- did I mention the headlights??????

I would poo myself if there was a T-top. Not even joking, my desk chair would be ruined, but sadly the fbodfather has spoken.

So... Fbodfather. Does GM need a good software engineer maybe? Cars are getting more high tech and all .

Thanks Scott for confirming that for us. We had long figured there were two roofs (reverse mohawk and sunroof) but as always it is great to hear it spelled out officially.

Here's the question: would you rather have T-tops or curtain airbags. And if you answered curtain T-tops, the governement would not agree with you, so you would be overuled anyway.

I know of people who have made T-tops out of cars who don't have them. So if you really want one that bad, and are willing cut on you car and have some one do some fabrication for you.. then you can have a T-top.

Personally if there was a drop-top or t-top option I would rather have that than a vert, but I love that reverse mohawk too much to consider a sunroof.

Personally, i would prefer the sunroof, ill be spending more time in the car appreciating the engi...interior then outside just looking at the car, and since i could care less about other ppl going "hey look at the reverse Mohawk" then me having a nice open sunroof above me with all open windows on a nice summer day listening to that wonderful v8 noise!

How much weight does a sunroof usually add to a car?

that all depends on whether it is glass or not but for a sunroof the size that would fit on the camaro i would say...30-40 lbs with a glass sunroof, maybe a little more

At least it's nice to hear that the reverse mowahk is reallly going to be there. I love it and just want a regular coupe roof so that will be great for me.

One thing though, I know this has been brought up but I forget, my dad asked if it was going to be a hardtop and I said no. And he said "Why not?".
"Because of safety issues so that you don't get crushed if you land on the roof."
"Will you get crushed if you flip in the vert?"
"Uh no, it's got the thing ejecting (can't think of the english word right now) to prevent that."
"And they can't do that on the coupe? Or build a harder roof?"
"I, uh...I'm not sure...."
So, why isn't going to be a true hardtop again?

because of saftey standards here is the US.

In order to get the correct rollover/crash test ratings, there are two routes GM could have taken
:
1: Keep it a true hardtop, and beef up all the supports with heavier, more costly materials. Causing both weight AND price to go up.

2: Add a B-pillar, and sacrifice some minimal aesthetics to avoid all of the above.

As for convertibles; they(softtops) don't have to abide by the same rules as non-convertibles....for obvious reasons. There's no way that a soft-top is ever gonna be as strong as a normal roof.

...er, and what were did you mean "thing ejecting"?

IIRC on verts there's a safety bow of sorts that ejects if you flip to avoid you getting crushed.

And that sucks about the standards, would've been awesome to roll down both windows to make a big opening like on the old school cars.... :/ Oh well will just have to get a 1969 Camaro or Charger for cruising

how much would it cost to have the Fabrication done for theT-Tops? or maybe a Targa top, like the Vette had.
