If You Could Choose One - CAI or MRT v2

Which would you choose if you know it'd be a few months before you could get the other?

CAI cold air intake, or MRT V2?

Probably the MRTv2. But if you could swing both there are some pretty serious package discounts available on both.

I did the V2 exhaust first myself and never regretted it. I did have the CAI within a few weeks of installing the exhaust.

Just ask yourself what is more important to have first, slightly better gas mileage(not that much for added mileage though, maybe a mile per gallon, maybe 2 tops), or a cool sounding exhaust.

CAI. Makes your exhaust sound better and gives a little boost.

I would probably go for the CAI. A good gain you can feel and a little sound to hold you off until you can swing it for the exhaust.

Best regards,

No offence to the thread or anyone with the components installed but I didn't choose either.
I sat here and read these threads from day one (that would be 2011 for me or so) and took the drone part of the MRT people sometimes complained about out of it and gave GM's option a chance.
They had to know how they car could run right a bit more
Highway around 65 it is a little louder than my wife's 05 G6.
I hit it and that's when the difference happens.
With my BBK intake my car screams and sounds like a beast in my opinion.
we have a lot of ricers around here with the soup cans hanging off the back of a car that has 3 different colored parts.

Here I ran out with my Iphone real fast told my wife to get in while I ran then posted it to youtube.
I think it sounds and runs great ....everyday....

I wanted mine to be different.

That's a great sounding exhaust.

Back to the OP's question, I'd get the CAI intake first. At least it's a performance part.

FWIW an exhaust coupled with a CAI will produce more power than without an upgraded exhaust. Even a axle back will help because of less restriction in the exhaust. How much?? have to put it on a dyno to figure out. But I'm sure there are gains to be had. I've noticed my car really wake up once I did my exhaust and now my K&N intake. Exhaust note has changed and the intake roars above 4k rpms. Add my much lighter wheels and I've noticed a big gain in seat of the pants feel. Car just feels stronger as well and pulls very hard now.

This is what I'm looking for and also am not happy with the drone of the MRT 2.0.
Is the GM option you mentioned a GM branded Borla axle-back? That's what I'm leaning towards.

I would get the more expensive one 1st (exhaust), that way the $aving time would be less for the other (intake)...

You should have started a poll.

I went with MRT V2.0 first and within a week installed CAI.

But i bought it as a combo though, apex has great combo deals.
I'd suggest keep saving and buy as a combo from Apex.

I did the intake first on my car way back when...but in your situation op I would probably get the exhaust first...

I too went to apex (thanks Chase) Got a nice deal and installed my exhaust/mod and intake same time. Since I modded first, I never heard a drone. Unless you count over 80, but I only hear that in AZ. And with the subthump box working, Can't even hear the drone.

I'd like to see some evidence of these claims. While it's true for many, many vehicles, I don't think anyone has empirical proof that an axle-back exhaust does anything for the LLT/LFX platform performance-wise. The stock exhaust flows pretty decently.

ive read that catbacks for the lfx has minimal to no gains.. sounds like crap to me =\ prolly why when searching for exhaust they dont list any gains? but brand new 2013 v6.. i think im going to order my CAI today, i have Muffler Deletes that cost 100$.. its a good sound change over stock, i feel like it has some good rasp higher in gears.

Good compliments in wyoming even tho everyone feeds me shit for it being a v6. personally im going to upgrade to a catback when they decide to release some headers for us. just my 2 Cents.

As you found out in your other thread, there are no headers for the LFX and never will be. Just wanted to post this so others who read this thread at a later time don't get led astray.
