How long will they last me from here?

Hey guys,

I have had my car a total of 4 months and I already have a little over 16,000 miles. I have driven this car all over the country. All the fun has taken a toll on my tires. My question is based on these pictures do these tires need replacing immediately? I am really concerned about the almost non exisitent shoulder tread, which was never much to begin with. I have one more 800 mile round trip to take in 2 weeks and was trying to hold off until I got back. What are your thoughts? By the way the rear tires still look really good! For anyone needing tires Discount Tires has them for $311 a pop.

Those tires have lots of life left on them. You go by the wear blocks in the center of the tread. Chevy even says the outer edge will wear flat from track use and not to panic about it

Yeah, this video from GM is great. It covers the tire wear issue and other interesting track topics.

At least you were smart enough not to have the front tires rotated to the back. More than once I've been walking down the street and seen a sporty car parked along the curb with the bigger wheels and tires on the front and the factory front rims on the back. Many quick oil change places include topping off fluids and rotating the tires in with the cost of an oil change in order to increase business, and then their careless employees rotate tires which should never be rotated.

I have almost identical mileage and mine look about the same. The new set of tires is in the garage but I see no reason to change them for a while longer. There is no real difference in 60 ft times since I first ran the car at 1501 miles to 16000. For now, I expect about 4k more on the front and 2k on the rear.

16,000, I'm amazed, I've got about 12k on mine and they are just about gone, you know, maybe the rears are worse than the front, that kind of happens after a few trips to the drag strip, ok 12 or 15 trips, ok 6 to 8 runs per trip, but who's counting
