Oh! Did I mention, the ZL1 has very comfortable seats... This will serve you well when you are banished to the doghouse...

No. Keep the chevelle since it is a numbers matching car. If you do decide to part with it then sell it, do not trade it in. Wait and save up then get a really nice used ZL1 or get a leftover '13 next year.

Hell NO!! ZL-1's are a dime a dozen these days and plenty out there to be had. A classic like the 70 not so much I'd have to work it out to be able to have both cause you'll regret parting with the chevelle once the new car smell is gone

Just remember that the people that have fond memories of a 1970 Chevelle are dying everyday. (i.e. you were 20 to 30 years old in 1970 so now you're 60 to 70 years old) The value will peak, then it will go down and down quickly. Unless you have sentimental value in the car, it's an asset. Best to sell the asset at the best price when you can.

Thanks so much everyone! I really needed this. It's great to have so many car enthusiasts to ask for advise. I really appreciate it.

Is there an option to sale the wife?

Seriously though if it is a numbers matching I would if you absolutely have your mind made up put it through the classic cars sites and ask the appraisal. While the market did drop the Chevelles seem to hold their price pretty well. I saw one go a few months ago for 54K and yours appears to be in better condition.
Here is an article that uses that particular car as an example. Read it and take from it what you will. I believe if you truly wanted a ZL1 you could have it and more with that car as your bargaining chip

Personally I would keep the Chevelle and get the ZL1 too. But this decision is purely up to you.

I sold my 69 SS hugger orange camaro to buy the ZL1, I did not really have to sell it but did. I have been looking on fleabay for a 69 Z now and the prices they are asking for them are crazy. Then I get to thinking how uncomfortable they are, no A/C, no this and no that so I am really enjoying my new Z!!

No. Try to find a way to have both. There is a negative side to having both and not getting rid of stuff (ask me), but look at your alternatives and weigh them carefully. If money and space allows it then try to keep the Chevelle.
