I guy on another forum claims to have paid extra to get a Ls3 with the paddle shift auto? Is this possible?

while we are on the topic....

i was curious i know there will be ppl who decied to do the LS3/auto combo aftermarket. Would it be easier/cheaper to
A.Buy a SS M6 and swap the tranny or
B. Buy a SS A6 abd swap the motor???

I'm quite sure engine swap would be the way to go... Never thought of it that way...

The L99 is a very advanced engine, alot of the performance shop guys are saying alot can be done to make it even better. The VVT is supposed to be really good. And DOD can be programmed out if you do not want it.

Excellent question. I would assume to do a trans swap that included a paddle shift column setup would involve quite a bit of work. It may be easier to swap motors. Either way I would also assume you would have to use the computer from a auto car.

I was just wondering, if this guy did actually order a Ls3/auto car, how could GM sell a vehicle with a drivetrain that is not tested or certified?

ls3/auto swap here, stock ecm and L99 harness work fine with the LS3, you just dont plug in the cam phaser and the AFM/DOD connector, thats it, the rest is a direct bolt in swap, then the tuning

the engine swap is the way to go,, you would have major $$ in swapping the trans, harness, tcm, steering column, floor shifter/ console, pedal assy and body harness

You don't need to swap the engine, just delete the VVT and AFM components and you have an LS3. But why would you want to delete VVT?

Swapping engines would be like building a whole new hamburger from scratch instead of taking the cheese off of the cheeseburger.

It would be cheaper to swap the engine anyday

And to Camaro1, that burger sounds fun lol

No kidding. Anyone can put an LS9 in the car if they wanted to. The issue is if he was able to buy a brand new A6 with an LS3 from the factory.

The guy never said. I have to admit I saw this because I lurk on the Titantalk forum. That site has the best war stories ever....If I am reading correctly, there is no vehicle a Nissan Titan can't beat. LOL. I would have to assume if he really has such a setup and did not do it himself, the dealer made the swap as I really don't think GM would do this due to certification/warranty issues.

Exactly, I am a closet lurker just to read the amazing kill stories. The stories there have provided much entertainment. Driving a Lightning daily I am aware of a Titan's limitations.

I have my doubts that jackass even has a Camaro, let alone an" auto/LS3 with plenty more throttle at 160."

dont Know if they make that option or not. But maybe his dealer didnt know what he was talking about. Because 1 dealer I was talking to was telling me that all new camaros had the LS3 in them. He was doing it to intentionally lie to people he was just older salesman and at the end he straight up said I dont know a whole lot about these new cars but ask me about anyhting from the 60's and i can awnser your Question.

This is just like the guy at one the dealerships I went to telling me the auto camaros have a smaller engine than the m6 camaros. I said uh maybe rated higher hp but no physically smaller or ci wise and then he said I swear..... Hmmm guess he should know
