First Service

I got the first service done today, $145.54.

3335 Km

Have been running 14.7 lt. / 100km avg. over the last month.

Went for a long drive yesterday with my wife and reset everything.
104.6 km got 13.0 / 100, avg. speed 49.6
18.1 mpg @ 30.6mph for our southern friends.

Now with the new oil she feels great. The tires actually broke loose at the stop light on the way home which is never happened before. Lets see if the mileage improves.

TJ91 has your mileage gotten better?

I'm getting 12.0/100km in normal driving. I can milk it down to 10.5/100km but who drives like that?

Long story. My dealer closed! New dealer sent me a welcome letter offering a free oil change to get aquainted. Fine print "does not include synthetic oil"
Well we have had a few words, no comprimise no nothin. I have forwarded a complaint to the owner who is going to get back to me. This was 3 days ago!

A few people have mentioned now that she seems to "come alive" after first service. There should be no way that just an oil change does that. I wonder.... any chance they did an ECM flash? That could make a difference (depending on the changes). Any way you can find out Mike?
I'm thinking of having them change the tranny and rear diff too. Might be worth the couple hundred bucks to be extra sure that no filings are floating around in those - especially if I'm keeping her for the long run.

good to hear that shes more alive Mike!
My car is averaging 15-16 still, have to check the average speed to see. But thats about 80% city.
Just a question. My salesman toled me that after 1000 clicks, that she would be broken in and that i can run her hard but not too hard. So i have been running her a little hard. Been shifting at around 5800 rpm occasionally (redline is 7000)
I have 1100 clicks but am stopping now because i finally opened the manual it states 2400km before goi9ng above 4000rpm
Yeah i am now officially babying her again.
How many km did you guys have before running her moderately hard?
P.S i calcualted manually and my car drove 140km on 20L

We started by placing our order at Wallace last November and it got moved to their sister dealership Gateway in Brampton. We didn't particularly like dealing with either one.

Sorry that I have not responded sooner, but we have been very busy! I have been PM'd by a number of you asking about my experience with Wallace, so to save me some typing, here is what I wrote about it on Corvette Forum and a few other sites:

Just got back from the dealership and as expected it was a waste of my time. They offered $30K for the car, which isn't insulting, but I was clear on the phone that $32K was my number and I wasn't interested in visiting the dealership for anything less. The Sales rep told me he could give me $32K for it and frankly, I'd rather drive the car for the summer and then give a forum member a deal on the car for an in and out deal with my friend's dealership than let them have the car for $30K in prime season. The car is mint and has just 12,000 km on it! What pisses me off the most is that I delayed a job interview until tomorrow so I could go to the dealership tonight.\

The next day the sales rep calls back and this is the outcome that I posted:

So the saga continues...the sales rep calls today and says I've got a better deal for you. Here it is "with full disclosure as I always do". OK...$31,000 for your car plus a $400 discount off of MSRP for a total of $31,400. He then runs down the list of costs and I tell him I'll plug them into my spreadsheet and give it some thought. So I plug away and keep coming up with only $100 less than MSRP???????? So I call him back and ask him to start from the top and list every line item. He starts with the 2SS price of $41,065, then says $1,480 or the RS package...hold on, that package is only $1,380..."oh, that's right. Then theres the $100 marketing fee". Again I stop him..."what $100 marketing fee, retail customers don't pay that and that was not in your calculations last night that you printed off for me". He tries some BS line about they are pricing off of vehicle cost and that all customers pay that fee. PLEASE!!! I called BS, told him not to call me back and hung up. I will never do business with this dealership and would never reccomend them. And for the record, in 2006 my wife and I earned our Automotive Sales Certifications and incorporated a company (Collectable Investments Inc) and started a collector car dealership. I've bought or leased a new car every two years for the past 20 years and have been around the block a few times! Why these salespeople try this crap is absolutely beyone me!!! Feel free to PM for the dealer's name.

What is amazing to me is that I told the sales rep not to call me back as I would never do business with someone like him and he has called me at least a dozen times over the past 2 weeks! My wife is just waiting for me to pick up the phone and go off on him! However, I am staying calm and just telling my story factually.

just want to know ..is there a trip computer that calculates your lt/100km? or you full the gas tank and you go until it's at 1/4 or litte less and then you fill up and calculate howmuch you put into her and and your total trip??

--if you don't know take the amount of lt's that you just filled the tank, divide it by the total trip that you did =lt/100km---

when i see your results i'm ? don't understand how that v8 can be so thirsty.. gm engines are /supposed to get very good mileage.. maybe it will get better when it gets some more km's..
