Within reason, the bottom 1.125" of the intake manifold (the lower intake portion to be specific) is made of aluminum, and it still get's darn hot... Regardless of heat soak issues, I believe the spacer would still help increase lower end torque.

I have seen a variety of posts stating something similar, which is why I think it would make a good sticky. Maybe I can write something up in the next day or so, if time allows.
