First of all, let me say that I am THRILLED with my new SIM 2LT/RS. Love, love, love the car. However, the question in the subject title has been asked of me three times (in some variation, but basically the same question) in the first 24 hours of ownership.

WTF? I'm starting to get an inadequacy complex already.

I was deciding between the 2LT and a 2SS, and I decided to go with the 2LT for a few reasons:

1) Several thousand cheaper, better gas mileage, and a cheaper insurance rate (and with a family of 5, the overall savings is a big deal)
2) PLENTY of power in the 2LT
3) I am hoping to pass this car down to my kiddo in three years, and she absolutely won't need an SS or the insurance rates to go with it (and probably even this car has a little too much juice for a new driver)

Has anyone else with a V6 Camaro had the same scenario come up regularly? What do you say to the people who ask? The guy who asked me about it today on the golf course drives a Mustang GT that's a couple years old. My dad told him I had picked up my Camaro yesterday, and he asked the magic question. When I told him I got the V6, he had this disappointed look on his face and said "ohhhh.....well, I'm sure it is still pretty nice." I responded "Yeah, I really like it, and from what I've heard, it will smoke a Mustang." Heh.

i wish i had a v8 but the six is hot and there's alot lees of a chance of me getting in trouble! i love mine iom 1LT/RS 6M

There are only a few things I could do with a V8 but not a V6, and all of them are things I shouldn't be doing anyway.

Yup, there's been a couple of folks (of the dozens who have gawked) who are purists and were like "Well, it looks nice". I went into the specific output rating (1.4 hp/in), efficiency, variable valve timing, etc. Future bolt-ons will make the LLT even better. It's not the same entry level as with a 4th-Gen. For the money, it's the best way to go. For ~7K more you can get the V8, or buy some old muscle that needs some love and have two for the price of one. I'm 100% happy with my decision - if it's a daily driver, I agree with others that it may just be the better car

not knocking the 3.6 liter, awsome motor but how do we figure ??

sadly enough there is about a 90 hp lost with the SS auto, not saying it will keep up just throwing the fact out there.

I had one guy....staff sergeant say.....i should hang my head in shame. he still waiting for his white SS and will be for a couple more months.

guys if you didnt know there is something wrong with the auto SS
its supposed to get a 4.8 0-60 but it is getting around 6.8

if you feel your v6 has inadequate power, Start Modding you could probably get it up to 400hp (look at Xanthos thread in the members car journal)

don't call me out on it

i plan to mod my 2lt in the future

yeah, everyone that i have heard dissing the v6 drives some POS or ricer. i point this out to them and they always say "well id rather drive this POS than a POSER camaro. WTF??
