I ordered the V6 but like I said in one of my other posts, I really don't need a V8 to go to work everyday...it's nice to have that extra HP with the V8 but I think it's just overkill...I mean other than racing somebody (on a rare occasion somebody wants to race me) when the hell are you gonna need 426HP really? City driving where I live I'll be lucky to be going 55 mph max... Like Bruce Almighty said "All this horsepower and no room to gallop!" Plus you factor in gas is always climbing up, and you gotta use premium for the V8, also your insurance will be higher cause they know what's under the hood...yeah I know the true muscle car is always the V8 but I'll be more than content with the V6 for my needs...

Tell them your car's favorite snack is rice, and to STFU! The V6 version is the best $23-$30k(ish, depending on options of course!) that you can spend, for the style, performance, and sheer attitude!

Wow..I'm a v8 guy, but the 5th gen v6 breaks the mold when it comes to sixers. You have a great car that can give many v8's a run for their money..I'd just laugh at them if I were you

There are just some people who are just that way. My co-worker for example has a 1965 Mustang, looks great, but when people first go up to her enthusiastically and say "What kind of engine you got?" and she answers the "V6" then it is like "oh.. that sucks" then they end the conversation.

Then I have my friend who told me "No v8 = fail" but yet I laugh as he doesn't know how to drive a stick. To me a "V8 auto = fail"

To me I didn't order a camaro for the muscle, I wanted a cool car to drive. I also figure that my 2lt will wind up being a daily driver, so I got the V6 manual.

I also thought of a good response to someone saying "Why did you only get the V6" to which I told someone already who was trying to get me to get the V8. I simply said "I'm secure"

I also grew up in the 80's and owned two v6 Camaros a 1984, 1988 RS an a 1992 Z28 fully loaded with a 5.7L tune port 350 motor (245 Hp) and the new V6 is faster than my 1992 Z28

Bottom line, it's a statement just to be buying a new car in this bad economy even more a Camaro! So they can kiss it.

The same who slams your car then jumps into there ford tempo on the way home jealous as hell. This stuff is stupid really. Myself i think the v6 camaro is an insane value its an amazing ride but for me i cant get past the sound of the v6. I heard one the other day and first thing i thought was that just sounds wrong i cant live with that so its the 1ss for me. Don't worry, you can't win either way. I have an SS, but get trouble for it not being a manual. Back when I had my V6 99' Firebird, I got trouble for it not being a V8.

I just spent several hours driving a rental 1LT on Rt 1 south of Carmel. Man oh man was that fun! That car can haul some ass, and I'm sure it out-performs the SS in the curves.

A few bolt-ons, and that car is going to be friggin' wicked.

The guy who asked me about it today on the golf course drives a Mustang GT that's a couple years old. My dad told him I had picked up my Camaro yesterday, and he asked the magic question. When I told him I got the V6, he had this disappointed look on his face and said "ohhhh.....well, I'm sure it is still pretty nice." I responded "Yeah, I really like it, and from what I've heard, it will smoke a Mustang." Heh.

No offense but if you knew comments like this would bother you why not get the V8 in the first place? You had to know they would come.

At least it's not handicapped in the aesthetics category. In the Mustang world, it's obvious to anyone that you've got a V6.... and Ford V6 is anything but respectable. I think you made the sensible choice.

This may be hard to believe, but the "why did you get a V6" comments scenario never even crossed my mind. I guess after driving SUVs and family cars for so long, and waiting so anxiously for this car to become a reality, I never even thought about it. I was just happy to be gettign a really nice Camaro.

The V6 doesn't necessarily have "plenty of power". Just because it has 304hp doesn't mean it's quick. It's gotta lug around all that weight.

Yeah, roughly 6 seconds to 60 is slow

Quick is relative. Most people would agree the V6 is no slouch performance wise.
