ls1 to ls3 engine swap questions?

I have a 98 ss that i bought back in october of 07. I love the new ss but i dont really want the car payment. So i was thinking of putting a new engine in instead. Is this a big job? im sure i will need new brakes but what else? tranny? and what kind of exhaust would i get? one that is for a camaro, or one that is compatible with a ls3? Im not a motor head so i have no clue. And any other advice would be great. thanks!

I think you would have to replace alot. Even the wireing and whatnot.

I think one should do it only if he knows exactly what he is doing.

Read about it online.

Ask google...lol...(stupid joke)

EDIT: Nevermind...lol

the LS1 and LS3 have the same dimensions, so yeah the physical "Swap" should be relatively easy, the same goes with any LS motor. you may have to get a standalone harness...not sure.

you could call the GM Performance Parts guys, on their website they advertise putting LS3's and LS7's in camaros.

Also there is a member here named HTWLSS, her husband owns modern classics auto out here in oregon. He recently put a LS3 in a Second Gen Camaro (EFI too). Damn thing runs and looks beautiful. He's been featured in Camaro Performers because of his LS transplant expertise with Camaros. They're really good people, he can point you in the right direction for sure
