A quick explanation is that it catches oil that could be ingested into your intake track. In the long run that oil that gets stuck in the intake can cause a decrease in both performance and efficiency. Simply Search the forum and you will find stacks of threads with a much longer and detailed explanation.

As seen in the photos above, the hose to buy is Power Steering return hose.

This is about an easy install job as you get. There are plenty of threads in this V6 section if you do a search on Catch Can. Again the photos above are a huge help.

Lastly, the reason to install one of these on our DI engines is we do not have fuel going thru our intake manifold to mix with that oil and prevent the sludge from building up on our valves.

This photo shows how much my catch can caught at my last oil change of 3500 miles. Now imagine all that oil going thru your intake on onto the valves.

Prior to my CC install, I had a bit of oil coming thru the clean side into the intake tube (ahead of the throttle body). My TB was pretty dirty, too. Since my CC and breather install, I have taken the intake tube off once to check, and again when I installed my Roto-Fab intake, and both times it's been clean.

You can see the oil that came from the clean side into the intake tube in the first pic in this thread.

Another choice is Transmission Oil Cooler lines.

The size you want is 3/8 I.D.

Rear of valve cover to center port on the RX catch can... Outside port of the catch can to center of intake breather hole, (you will have to cut the plastic hardline to the nipple that fits the intake, the 3/8 hose will slide right over it and seal fine).

I bought appx 4 ft of 3/8" Trans cooler hose from O'Reilly's auto parts, it was about $13 bucks for the hose.

Picture below of oil in bottle is what I drained today (just checking to see if it was actually catching anything)... It looks like appx. 1 to 1.5 Tablespoons of oil... This much after only 200 miles of having the catch can on the car... This is more than I was getting out of my LS3 car in 4000-5000 miles... Sad face.
