Disabling Daytime Running Light (DRL)

Do anyone know how to disable the daytime running light (DRL) in our Canadian 2010 Camaro (w/o HID)?

Thanks

Daytime running lights have been required under federal law for all new cars for a number of years now. If you disable them, you may be exposing yourself to a ticket from an observant police officer. Besides, they increase the visibility of your car (EDIT - Not that this car needs much help in that department. As my wife said when I told her I wanted one, "It's not a subtle car, is it?") and thus decrease the odds of somebody driving into you.

i bought rs headlights for my ss, so i have been trying to get them shut off, the dealer can't do it. the bcm computer that controls it will not let you shut them off.
unless you auto off them every time you start(get a good alarm guy to setup a relay to throw the same pulse that the switch does on start up)so they'll be off, but you would have to turn lights on maually and fogs

Usually setting the parking brakes will turn them off. You can pull up on the handle to first click, just enough to turn off the lights, but not enough to physically engage the parking brake so you don't have brake drag. Give it a try!

Given how many 2010 are already hit or totalled I will be leaving mine on.
Given it is a federal requirement you may have a greater liability if in an accident.

As far as I know, Canada only requires the vehicle to be equipped with DRL's (after 1990)... They're not required to be ON... Just there...

Though, technically, if they ARE required then every single RCMP vehicle is breaking the law...

Edit: after much scouring of the Transport Canada website... DRL's are legally required to be on whenever the car is in motion...

So now I know for sure that legally, you need them on...

I know when I get my Camaro, I'm going to have to mess with the wiring...

Disable the DRL's so I can use the park lamps instead, and wire it so I can turn on my fog lights without the headlights! lol
