Wheel Mod. Anyone try this?

Hello,

I've been beating my head against the wall trying to decide if I want to do this mod or not. I'm thinking it will look sweet if it comes out the way I see it in my head but that isn't the way it usually works out for me, please refer to my ex-wife for complete understanding of this worry.

What I'm talking about is painting the very bottom of the CAMARO letters which are cast into our 1LE wheels.

Standard unmolested wheel.

Molested wheel.

Closeup of molested wheel.

Please let me know what y'all think. I've talked to some of my friends and they too are divided. I would use the same red as what's on the brake caliper.

Thanks for the input.

Karl

I do not think I would like it, and in fact wish the caliper was black as well......hey that's a new mod!

I don't think I would like it, looks ok not moving, but when turning it may look like a red circle or stripe. But I do like the calipers!

I hadn't thought of the stripe effect. One thing to keep in mind is I was only looking for the very bottom of the cavity to be painted, leaving the sides black. The thought is, it would look cleaner and less visible when not looked at directly.

Please vote in the poll on top.

It's certainly subtle. At first I looked at the pictures without reading what you said and I couldn't tell what the difference was, but once you see it, really cool idea, I like it.

It's all personal preference. IMHO for your color I would not do it. If it was Red then I think it would look awesome! Why don't you take some red tape and try it out and see if you like it before making the jump?

I had been thinking of that in red first and then silver. When Wenning had said it will look like a red stripe when spinning it kind of put me off.

Do you remember where you saw it in silver?

Thanks

Jim

About highlighting the tires rickr9504 suggested , don't know, could look cool, maybe too much with wheel mods though.

Try iron cross innovatins, they have a white glue on wheel lettering

I painted the words on my wheels shortly after getting the car. There was a thread from someone who had done it so I followed suit. It looks great and those that notice it think so too.

Since the first time a name was embossed in something on a car, people have found the uncontrollable desire to fill it in with a different color. I think they look better without paint in the letters.

Thanks for all the input. WOW! Last time I saw a vote split down the middle like this there was supposed voter fraud going on.... I'm still up in the air about this. Think I'll do the red tape thing and see what it looks like. If it doesn't take me all day to do it I'll do the front/back and post a pic. It'll be a couple days before I can even start. It's a work thing...sucks.
