general maintenace

i was looking at the manual and notice that there isn't that much maintenance to be done to this cars. the first major maintenance is at 45k miles, with parts that i can change my self. the next one is at 90k miles which is the same maintenance as the 45k miles. should i go by what the book say? also i notice that the spark plugs are not necessary to change until 60K miles, is that really true? im not a mechanic expert here, i would like to know what you all think about the maintenance period for this cars according to the manual.

I would go with what the manual says in this case. Iridium tipped spark plugs last a long time.

Yes, most likely that's what they are if the change interval is that long. I have a '95 Montero that has an underhood sticker that cautions to use platinum tipped plugs, which were the state of the art back then, and they have a 60,000 mile change interval. I used Iridiums last time I changed them.
