They will offer replicas that arent as light most likely, and should be somewhat more affordable.

They might even offer these in 18's or 20. Hopefully.

What numbers are you basing that off of though? The Z/28 numbers haven't been officially released...

Don't forget, the steering on the Z/28 has a different calibration than the ZL1. Al mentions that in his interview. The last thing you would want to do it put those wheels/tires on (which I love as well) and have your steering go odd in some way.

3600 lbs, probably 505 HP means around 7.12 lbs/HP.

BBS is the OEM supplier for the Lexus IS-F forged 19" wheels, among others. As an accessory, those BBS wheels with Lexus center caps can be purchased from Lexus dealers for le$$ money than similar-sized BBS wheels sold by Tire Rack.

Just because they're a "manufactuer's wheel" doesn't necessarily mean they have to be exorbitantly priced.

As to "upgrading" a ZL1 , or any other model/vehicle, with lighter wheels and tires will NOT have a negative effect on vehicle components or dynamics, in and of themselves. Supposing, of course, your upgraded components are of suitable quality. Which, in this case, GM's quality standards will ensure.

The "net effect" of ALL the changes to the Z/28 lowered the cg by 33mm, including the weight-saving measures that also came from "high weight". The wheels, tires, lower suspension are a large part, but every ounce saved "above" the former cg moved the cg lower. Thin glass, one speaker etc.

The dry-sump LS7 may afford a lower engine placement, too, as it did in the Corvette. That would also aid in a lower cg.
