You're probably right. Bringing up science typically does that to a lot of debates about various topics. It is, after all, the de facto method of killing debate.

But, while this thread languishes from neglect, if you want to read something amusing, read this thread from NorthAmericanMotoring.com. A similar but unrelated topic was discussed with similar facts and opinions brought up. This thread was opened 6 years ago.

The first 4 posts in 2007 and then the last post 4 years later in 2011 are particularly amusing to me. This was their discussion from 6yrs ago. So I am not claiming it has any relevance to this thread, I'm just posting it as an amusing anecdote.

hahaha wow, guess they got tired of people complaining about the noise. My fix to that problem was exhaust, but to each his own.

to change the coupler or not may still not make that much of a difference. the supercharger may still need to be replaced someday after 100k miles.

this topic is weird becasue the eatons on the ford product have a coupler on the GM product they had this isolator that makes noise.

there is way more data on the CTS-V forums to read since it has been around longer. the wear into the shaft is a huge issue for some but i have not read about shaft failing. Poeple are anoyed by the noise though.

If I ever do an upper pulley I will put the coupler on for sure. I am really not worried about the isolator wear at all though. I think the shaft will still function just fine with the groves.

Matt, does the new stock Eaton piece look any beefier than the Metco solid isolator?

Did I correctly hear that they begun using solid isolators on the 2014 model year ZL1?.

I thought I was reading another thread about this, and it was said that the 2014 ZL1"s are now using a solid isolator?

What does that prove?....that GM cost analysis has determined that it would be cheaper to eliminate short term noise warranties versus the long term wear and premature failure during the 5 year 100000 mile warranty? I am just now learning about this, as mine does not make any unexpected noise. Are there any LSA's with enough miles to show whether or not there is more wear over the 100000 miles? I am guessing few ZL1s will see 100,000 miles in 5 years or less that GM will have to worry about long term. Just some questions to help stir the pot as I found this an interesting read and I like learning new things.

Yes they have - the picture Matt posted is the coupler removed from a stock 2014.

My 2013 had the spring loaded one
