2011 Camaro SS with 160 miles on the clock

Ok, here's my story... I purchased a new to me 2011 SS convertible from a local dealer here in Wichita Ks. I'm trying to find out why someone would purchase a car like this and not drive it.... I contacted the previous owner who owns a speed shop called Patterson racing in Augusta Ks. They stated that they traded a collector car for the SS but never drove the Camaro. I asked the previous owner what made this car so special and never got a reply. So I'd like some opinions... What would make a 2011 Camaro SS convertible so special to a collector? First production round? If so, how can I verify this? I've got the window sticker, how can I tell when it was produced? Just looking for someone with more experience... Thanks

The nadar sticker on the inside of driver's door jam will have the production date on it.

If the previous owner was a speed shop, I would wonder if it was used for test fit or dyno work.

Interesting,

Maybe they were extremely busy. In any case, if you can send me your VIN, I would be happy to let you know the build date.

Hi uloozer,
I have a 2011. Vert with 742 total miles and its not because its just my Sunday or weekend ride, I planned on driving it a lot last summer but detached both biceps in my right arm and rotator cuff too,
Needless to say after surgery and rehab my car was in the Garage for almost a year. I traveled all this summer so again didn't
drive it much. Hoping for a great fall season so I can put some miles on her!
Enjoy and drive it as much as you possibly can!
Gio

Maybe they were going to do some speed mods, but never got around to it. It could have been one of those projects that got put on the back burner.

Just coming back from visiting family in MD. Hertrich Chevrolet still has several '12 Camaros on the lot. Plus a coupe and convertible 45th on the lot! Had some '13's and a 14 1SS vert.

A member of our local Camaro club just bought a 2010 SS coupe a few weeks ago that only had 670 miles on the OD. The car was bought by a company executive as a show car and never really driven. It is in perfect shape. So, in answer to your question, there are cars out there with low miles and you should feel lucky to have found one.

Mine is a sunny day pleasure cruiser with only 1800 miles, built April 2011. It's a pampered garage queen in between cruises. If you're lucky, yours was one too.

What Color is it there were a couple of colors that were hard to find in early April 11. I only know this because when I went to order my vert I could not order Imperial Blue Metallic (IBM). that color and Red jewel tint (RJT) and one other color was temporarily discontinued because of the earthquake in Japan. I guess it took out a plant that produced a component for those paints. this made these cars harder to find in 2011. I had to drive to a dealer in Maryland 6 hours away to find one in IBM. That might be why they thought it might be more of a collectors item.

Interesting discussion. New member as of today! Hi everyone.

I bought my 2011 2SS/RS in May 2011 (04/2011 build) and have only 1700 miles on it. Never in snow or rain! It's simply by choice and when I have available time. I will post a picture later.
ENJOY IT!!!

FYI, there was no 2010 Camaro Convertible. The convertible was introduced for the 2011 model year and production began in Feb 2011, so yes it's the first year of the 5th Gen convertibles.

It either sat most of the time or was raced. And both of those are reasons to stay away from the car.

Not being run regularly can really cause problems that may not be immediately evident.

Wouldn't worry about it. My 2010 only had 2k on it when I bought it in July. Got 4200 on it now runs awesome. 2 yrs sitting no problem, 10 yrs sitting aaah would avoid that one!
