Question Switching from Conventional to Synthetic Oil...

Hey guys, I plan to do an oil change tomorrow and I am wanting to go with Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30. Anything necessary to do or keep in mind when switching from conventional to synthetic?

Never ran synthetic in any of my cars before, so I'm clueless on this subject.

I have 11000 miles on it and this will be the second oil change.

If you're gonna switch to synthetic, use Mobil 1 synthetic. It's what the SS uses.

Quaker state is fine - all the major brands are...just change it - no special things to be done...

Sweet, thanks.

And while Mobil 1 is popular and called the best, I like the savings on the QS and I can't see there being a big difference in the quality. I've run QS on all my cars/trucks with no issues

As long as the Quaker meets Dexos standards, I see nothing wrong with using it.

I paid 21.47 for Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30 in a 5 qt jug at Wal-Mart. Bought the last two jugs on the shelf because I knew I needed more than 5 qts anyways.

Why in the world does our car take 6 quarts.... come on GM. Annoying as hell lol.

Bought an STP Oil Filter for 4.39 at Autozone because the Fram at Wal-Mart was $19

Now you're up 4 quarts towards your next oil change. Think of it that way.

Good price on the oil. I'd look towards NAPA for a Gold oil filter for the next change, but that's just me.

Quaker State is fine

I've been using Quaker State synthetic in my 99 Silverado and 226,561 miles later it still runs. I seen it the other day at Walmart, Dexos approved.

Advance Auto has a nice sale 2 times a year if you can catch it on Mobil 1 products.

I drive about 7000 miles a year so buying 2 oil changes when the sale hits is perfect for me.

Sales on oil and looking ahead...(you will need to change it anyway)....
