Help with 305

Okay so I've read through about 20+ threads about this subject. WHAT'S THE WIDEST TIRE YOU CAN RUN ON A STOCK 9in SS RIM!??? I like the look of running wide tires. So I was thinking nitto invo for my tire. I've heard they run smaller so would a 295 or 305 work for the rear? Some say it will hurt handling. Will it? And some say that the traction path or I forget what they called it contact path will be the same as a 275 and the extra inches are just for looks. Can someone please clear this up

I don't think you want to go wider than a 285 on the stock 9" rear rim. 295's and 305's will fit safely on a 10". A wider tire on a rim smaller than it was made for will have a rounded contact patch and will wear out faster.

275 is the widest you'll likely find by researching actual tire sizes and their minimum wheel width requirements. 275 is also the widest I'll ever suggest for anything short of brief emergency needs where you can't find 275/40's and absolutely need to use that car.

275/40's are pretty squeezed down as it is when you put them on wheels that are only 9" wide.
